No MC Needed: SUPER JUNIOR-83z Takes Over Kuala Lumpur With Endless Laughter

What happens when SUPER JUNIOR's leader Lee Teuk and the Universe Star Heechul are left to entertain an entire arena by themselves? Pure 83z chaos and Malaysian ELFs loved every second of it.

Bringing their 2026 SUPER JUNIOR-83z FANCON TOUR [1983] to Mega Star Arena Kuala Lumpur on 13 September, Lee Teuk and Heechul proved that two decades of knowing each other can result in the perfect combination of teasing, bickering, laughter and genuine chemistry.

The fancon opened with SUPER JUNIOR-83z's title track “Promise,” immediately setting the mood for the night. The duo continued with “SOLOVE” before bringing fans even further into their memories with SUPER JUNIOR's fan-favourite “All My Heart.” From the very beginning, the atmosphere inside Mega Star Arena was electric, with ELFs singing along and cheering for every moment shared by the two members.

One of the highlights of the evening came during the duo's solo stages, where Lee Teuk and Heechul each showcased their own unique charm. Lee Teuk took the stage with “Bad Name,” delivering a performance that had fans eagerly anticipating its iconic ending. But before the performance could reach that moment, Lee Teuk had something to say. 

“I know you guys are looking forward to the end part, but sadly I can't perform here. If not, I'll go to jail.”

The unexpected comment immediately sent the arena into laughter, a reference to his iconic shirt-removing ending that fans had clearly been waiting for. At the same time, Lee Teuk showed his consideration for the local culture and audience, choosing not to perform the part that could potentially be inappropriate in Malaysia. Rather than crossing any boundaries, he made sure to respect the country's local customs and cultural sensitivities while still turning the moment into one of the night's funniest exchanges.

Heechul later revealed just how worried he had been backstage while watching Lee Teuk's solo stage. 

“I was so worried backstage when watching his solo performance. I was scared that he'll take off his shirt.”

And knowing exactly what the fans wanted, Lee Teuk continued to tease them, explaining that he knew something felt missing from the performance. His solution? 

“If you wanna see the performance, go to the next stop in Macau or Singapore.” 

The suggestion was met with another huge wave of laughter and cheers from the Malaysian crowd. 

Then it was Heechul's turn. Transforming the stage into his own little world, Heechul appeared with his iconic Prince-like visual and performed “GODOGNAM” with plenty of dramatic expressions and full-stage action. The visual, the vocal and the performance, Heechul reminded everyone exactly why he earned the title of the “Universe Star.”

The fun continued with the challenge session, where the duo took on a series of dance challenges. One particularly memorable moment came when they performed AOA's “Like a Cat.” The song unexpectedly reminded Heechul of his beloved cat, Heebum, who sadly passed away earlier this month. Heechul opened up to the fans: 

“Something sad happened last week, and I was worried that my emotion would be affected. But thanks to all of you! Heebum, this song is for you.” 

The atmosphere instantly became more emotional, with many ELFs visibly moved by the heartfelt dedication. For longtime fans, Heebum was more than just Heechul's beloved pet. Having grown alongside Heechul since his early SUPER JUNIOR days, Heebum had also become a familiar presence to ELFs around the world. Seeing Heechul dedicate the song to him made the moment especially touching.

Thankfully, Lee Teuk was there to bring the energy back up, moving on to the next challenge — Michael Jackson's “Beat It.” And the challenges only became more entertaining when Lee Teuk took on “Express Mode” while incorporating Malaysia's traditional samping into his outfit, earning loud cheers and laughter from the audience.

The duo then took ELFs on a nostalgic journey through SUPER JUNIOR's extensive discography with an energetic dance medley. From “Rokkugo,” “Bonamana,” “Mr. Simple,” “Sorry, Sorry” and “Sexy, Free & Single” to SUPER JUNIOR-D&E's “Oppa, Oppa,” the medley brought back memories from different eras of SUPER JUNIOR's career. For fans who have followed SUPER JUNIOR for years, watching Lee Teuk and Heechul dance to these iconic songs together was a reminder of just how much history the two have shared. 

The fancon then continued with 83z's own tracks, including “More Than Love,” “ONSAEMIRO” and “Sweet Dreams,” before closing the night with the beloved “Miracle.”

And perhaps the best part of the night was that 83z never needed anyone else to keep the show going. With Lee Teuk and Heechul taking turns teasing, bickering, joking and bringing out the best in each other, the duo effortlessly carried the entire fancon from beginning to end. Two completely different personalities, one stage, countless laughs — and more than enough chemistry to fill an entire arena.

Here's hoping this won't be the last time we see Lee Teuk and Heechul together as 83z. More music, more memories and hopefully another tour soon — because after witnessing this little miracle in Kuala Lumpur, ELFs are definitely ready for more.
