Mastercard Turns Payment Safety Into a K-Drama With Tap Into My Heart

Mastercard is bringing payment safety into the world of Korean entertainment with Tap Into My Heart, a three-episode K-microdrama designed to make digital payment security more relatable through everyday stories.

Developed in collaboration with McCann Singapore, the series uses emotional storylines, relatable characters and familiar K-drama elements to explore how payment safety and security affect everyday decisions. The campaign will roll out across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines over eight weeks, with additional short-form content on TikTok, META and YouTube.

The series brings together two growing trends in entertainment: the global popularity of Korean content and the rise of microdramas, which use short episodes and emotional storytelling to connect with mobile-first audiences.

“Tap Into My Heart” uses the suspense, romantic drama and unexpected turns often found in K-dramas to explore concerns around fraud and payment security. Rather than interrupting the story with traditional advertising messages, Mastercard's security features are woven into the narrative.

Dheeraj Raina, Senior Vice President and Head of Integrated Marketing and Communications, Southeast Asia at Mastercard, said the project aims to make payment safety education more engaging, memorable and relevant to consumers' daily lives.

Dan Parmenter, Creative Director at McCann Singapore, added that the team drew on the emotional tension and misdirection of K-drama storytelling to explore payment security, working with a Korean director and actors to bring the story to life.

The project builds on Mastercard's wider efforts to communicate payment safety through creative formats. Earlier this year, the company collaborated with Sticky Monster Lab on Protected Monsters, a campaign combining AI-powered motion capture, creator-led storytelling and digital content to explain payment safety in everyday situations.

The first episode of Tap Into My Heart is now available on YouTube, with new episodes rolling out over eight weeks. Short-form content will also be released on TikTok and META throughout the campaign.
