Exclusive Interview with Park Seo-Joon & Park Min-Young: The Perfect Man vs The Legend Secretary in 'What's Wrong with Secretary Kim'
Sunday, July 01, 2018
tvN’s newly released What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim (金秘书为何那样?) drama has been making headlines among the viewers lately! Starring a stunning cast, Park Seo Joon (朴叙俊) and Park Min-Young (朴敏英), the two actors simply nailed it again with their incredible synergy and charming acting!
Based on a popular web novel, the drama tells a story of a comical office romance between a narcissistic vice president of a company Lee Young-joon (Park Seo Joon), who does his best not to lose his perfect secretary, Kim Mi-so (Park Min-young) after she makes the decision to quit her job to move on to start a new chapter in life.
Thanks to tvN Asia, GOkpop was given an amazing opportunity to have an exclusive written interview with Park Seo Joon and Park Min-young regarding to their on-going drama What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim! The heartthrob duo shared their feelings about their unique characters and approaching new challenges of different genre!
Q: This drama theme is romantic-comedy. Park Seo Joon (PSJ) and Park Min-young (PMY), how does it stand out from similar drama?
PSJ: The genre is similar but the messages and characters of each series are very different. There is this cheerful energy which 'What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim' only can give,
PMY: I don’t know if it’s because the drama I’m in, but all the characters in this drama are especially lovely and funny. Do I sound silly? *laughs*
Q: What comes into your mind when you first read about the characters Lee Young-joon and Kim Mi-so?
PSJ: Lee Young-joon is the vice president of Yoomyung Group, and a narcissist who loves himself so much. He is ‘the perfect human’ who was always at the top for everything since birth.
PMY: I think Kim Mi So, the character I play, is the legend of secretary who has mastered everything as she assisted the narcissist vice president Lee Young-joon for 9 years. When I first read about this character, I thought she is a very lovely character.
Q: Park Seo Joon (PSJ), you mentioned that Lee Young-joon is your complete opposite, what is the complete opposite character compared with your actual personality?
PSJ: Since Lee Young-joon is set to be a perfect man, there are more differences than similarities. For example, while Lee Young-joon loves himself so much, I am strict to myself and usually judge myself objectively.
Q: Park Min-young (PMY), since this is your first romantic comedy drama, how do your approach to this new role which you are unfamiliar with? What is the biggest challenge?
PMY: Whenever I watched movies or dramas, I kept my eyes on the beautiful clothes the actresses are wearing and kept thinking about the styles like “Those clothes are pretty. What kind of clothes should Kim Mi-so wear?” I am not a good rider of roller coaster, or other rides at the amusement park. This time, I had to challenge myself in taking the rides to shoot the date scene with Young-joon.
Q: What do you think about the character Kim Mi-so and Lee Young-joon?
PSJ: Kim Mi-so has been working as a secretary of ‘the perfect man’ Lee Young-joon for 9 years. I think the character has enough abilities to be called as ‘the legend of secretary’.
Q: Tell us about the character of 'Lee Young-joon' from the drama.
Q: Tell us about the character of 'Lee Young-joon' from the drama.
PMY: Young-joon is a very unique character that cannot be seen in other dramas. The lines are very witty which makes the drama very fun and engaging.
Q: Lastly, please send a message to our viewers from Singapore and Malaysia.
PSJ: Viewers from Singapore and Malaysia! 'What's Wrong with Secretary Kim' is a fun, unique drama that draws out the fun storyline with various characters. I guarantee that it will be great drama! Also, stay tuned for my future portfolios as well! Thank you!
PMY: Hi all, this is Park Min Young. Once again, I would like to send a high appreciation to you all for the great support for our drama and also the character of Kim Mi-so. I will try my best to show the best out of me, and Miso so stay tuned with our drama! Thank you.

Catch a difficult boss in action on tvN's latest program What's Wrong with Secretary Kim
Wednesday, June 06, 2018
Having to go to work about 5 times a week isn’t necessarily the most fun thing in the world. However, the relationship you have with your boss can either make or break your experience at a job. Although there are some great bosses out there, here are 4 of the most difficult ones that some of us have (unfortunately) experienced.
1. The Temperamental One
Having a boss that goes through extreme mood swings is the worst. One minute they’re the happiest person and the next minute they turn into the Hulk. It’s like you’re constantly walking on eggshells or buying the lottery. You come into work everyday not knowing what to expect. Will your boss yell at you for being 30 seconds late to a meeting or take you out to lunch because you asked them about their weekend? You’ll never know.
2. The Know-It-All
We’ve all had that one boss who thinks they’re correct about everything and anything in this world. They’re never open to new ideas and want everybody to know that they’re right and everyone else is wrong. Their motto might as well be “my way or the highway”. Yes, we understand you’re the boss and naturally, you probably do know more than us but..
NEWSFLASH: THERE ARE STILL NEW THINGS YOU CAN LEARN FROM OTHERS.
All we want is for you to try listening and not force your ideas down our throats 24/7. Is that really too much to ask? *sighs* Patience is a virtue with the know-it-all boss.
3. The Walking Contradiction
Does your boss say one thing but does another? Do they encourage you to be creative but want you to stick to ideas that have already been done? Do they want you to be independent but continue to micromanage? If you answered yes to at least one of the above, you, my friend, have a walking contradiction as a boss.
4. The Narcissist
You know that boss that ALWAYS wants to remind everyone that they’re perfect? For some odd reason, they think “because I’m the perfect boss” means everyone gotta (has to) be deeply in love with them.
Narcissistic bosses always want to put it out there that they’re impeccable. They also make it a mission to become best friends with attention. It’s as though it physically pains them to recognize that someone is not into them or doesn’t wanna (want to) work with them anymore. But why do they still act like this? You guessed it. “Because they’re one fine perfect human being!”
If you currently have a boss who embody one (or various) of these traits, you have two options:
Option 1: Quit your job.
Yes, this isn’t really the most realistic thing to do for everyone. Therefore, you can consider option 2.
Option 2: Know that you’re not alone.
A lot of us are on the same boat. In fact, Secretary Kim has been on this boat for about 9 years. Who is Secretary Kim? Why did she stay for 9 years? How bad was her boss?

"What's Wrong with Secretary Kim" Premieres Exclusively on tvN Asia on 7 June! New On-Screen Couple, Park Seo Joon & Park Min Young!
Friday, May 25, 2018
tvN’s upcoming 24-hour express drama – What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (金秘书为何那样?) will premiere exclusively on tvN Asia in Singapore and Malaysia on 7 June (Every Thursday and Friday) at 21:45. Featuring a star-studded cast led by Park Seo-joon (朴叙俊) and Park Min-young (朴敏英), the drama illustrates a comical office romance aimed at entertaining the audience with a pair of adorable couple and their refreshing chemistry.
The cast talked about their roles earlier, where Park Seo-joon shows deep affection for his brand-new role.
“My character is the exact opposite of ‘me’, so I look forward to playing the character very much. He is straight out of the comic book, I need to think of ways to deliver the lines naturally and poise myself wittily in order to reflect his narcissistic personality.”
With the delightful shooting atmosphere, the heartthrob hopes his charismatic character, as well as coupling with Park Min-young, can win the audience’s hearts.
Taking her first romantic comedy role, Park Min-young believes her character Kim Mi-so, the legendary secretary will come off as a “girl-crush” to audience.
“My character is quite energetic and independent. Despite being the youngest daughter, she is the breadwinner for her whole family, and therefore didn’t ever have any romantic relationship at all. After office hour, Mi-so is, in fact, a sloppy home girl which is in great contrast with her professional image at work. Audience will find her surprisingly easy to relate.”
On her first collaboration with Park Seo-joon, Park Min-young highly praises his comedic counterpart and remarks that she can hardly hold her laughter at his hilarious lines. The stellar cast’s caliber will strive to bring the comic storyline to life.
What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim centres on a self-absorbed narcissist Lee Young-joon (Park Seo-joon), the vice president of his family enterprise, and his competent secretary Kim Mi-so (Park Min-young). Having worked together for nine years, the stunning business pair “broke up” when Kim Mi-so tenders her resignation to move on to a next chapter in life. It is intriguing to see how the narcissistic boss Lee Young-joon react to such an unexpected turn of their “relationship” as the story unfolds.
The production crew just released yet another hilarious teaser highlighting the humorous interactions of the pair. Check out the teaser:
