EXO Made History Once Again At Sold Out Concert in Malaysia

The iconic global phenomenon EXO returned to Malaysia for their sold out 'EXO Planet #5 - ExplOration in Kuala Lumpur' concert at Axiata Arena on December 14th.

Only six members (Suho, Chanyeol, Chen, Baekhyun, Kai, Sehun) were able to perform at the concert as D.O and Xiumin are currently completing their mandatory service, while Lay is continuing his promotions in China.

Despite having only six members, their charismatic and powerful energy were enough to dominate the whole stadium. With their explosive live performances and natural wit personalities kept the audience, especially EXO-Ls, entertained throughout the night.

Dressed in racer-themed outfits, EXO started off the show with a bang when they performed their 2018 hit single ‘Tempo’. Followed by a series of loud fanchants and super cool stage effects – the members continued the fiery energy as they performed their other famous b-sides, ‘Transformer’ and 'Gravity'.

The temperature went up even higher as Baekhyun went on the extended stage to perform his electricfying solo song, 'UN Village'. Soon, EXO members returned on stage to perform their hit songs including '24/7' and 'Love Shot'. It is no surprise that EXO again, wow-ed the crowd with their synchronized dance moves and stable vocals.

After performing, they finally took a moment to give their short greetings. EXO's maknae Sehun immediately lit up as he noticed that the fans followed the dress code of the night, wearing in all shades of brown, khaki, cream, taupe and beige, which was the fan club's official colour called, 'Cosmic Latte'.

Leaving no time to waste, EXO continued to showcase their artistry and versatility with their all-time hit song 'Monster', which made everyone cheer and sing to their lyrics as loud as possible. Later it was smoothly transitioned into a dreamy performance of 'Oasis'.

Finally, Suho went on stage to perform his sultry solo song 'Been Through'. Followed by fellow member Chen, he delivered his heavenly distinctive vocals of ‘Lights Out’. To ease up the melancholy vibe, the fantastic duo Sehun and Chanyeol brought the upbeat fun vibes on stage, which made everyone stand up to party with their latest jams, ‘What A Life’ and ‘Closer To You’.

Kai also took the dance floor to show his cool rendition of ‘Confession’, just like the other EXO members, Kai gave his all during his performance and proved everyone once again the talented dancer he is.

After the solo stages, EXO treated fans with more nostalgic and popular tunes including 'Growl', 'Overdose' and 'Call Me Baby'. Although the songs were released from their early years, the iconic medley still received so much love and also the loudest cheers from EXO-Ls.

One of the highlights of the night was when EXO-Ls were constantly asking the members to perform their latest comeback song titled, ‘Obsession’. After a moment of discussion, the members agreed and did an impromptu acapella performance of the song to grant the fans’ request. Although it was a short performance, the fans were still screaming with excitement and even sang in unison as well.

When it was finally came down to their last ment, Kai mentioned that he would love to have a 3 day concert in Malaysia if he had the chance to. Sehun also said, “Malaysia is one of my favourites, I’m not lying because I really want to come back here”

“Please don’t be sad as we will meet each other again soon.” Sehun added.

Suho gave a proud adorable smile and impressed the whole crowd as he spoke in full English, “We promise we will return again with a new album soon, please wait for us.”

As it was time for them to depart, EXO ended the show with their song, ‘Smile On My Face’. They took the opportunity to interact with the fans as much as possible; several fans were lucky enough to have their phones being picked by the members to take selfies with! They even took the funny props and hats that were being gifted by the fans, wearing it whilst showing their cute gestures to fans. It was definitely a heartwarming scene to see that EXO appreciate their fans so much and they would do anything to make the fans feel happy and valued.

We hope to see them in Malaysia again soon and we can’t wait to see what’s next for EXO!

After 1.5 years, EXO returns to Singapore for their 5th concert tour ‘EXO PLANET #5 – EXplOration’. Filling up Singapore Indoor Stadium to the brim on 15 September 2019, EXO proves their standing as one of K-pop’s top-tier boy groups. This tour also marks the group’s fourth consecutive year on our sunny shores after their last world tour – EXO PLANET #4 – EℓyXiOn, held in March 2018.

The boys kick off with upbeat tracks like “Tempo”, “Transformer” and “Gravity”. Of course, no concert is complete without solo member performances! Baekhyun is the first one to dish out his sensual solo of “UN Village”. The six members then return to the stage as a group to perform the highly-anticipated “Love Shot”. Much to EXO-L’s excitement, EXO began their first ment. Chanyeol expressed his awe at everyone’s passionate chants during Baekhyun’s solo; while Suho added “Last night I visited the Merlion Park, it was so beautiful…” and ending off with an unexpected cheeky “…like you”!

Next up on the setlist was “Monster” and “Oasis”, followed by a chain of solo performances. Suho was the second solo member to dominate the stage with “Been Through”. The leader’s performance was met with overwhelming screams from fans as he removed his shirt, showing his impressive well-built figure!

Things went a little slower when Chen churned out a soulful “Lights Out”, tugging at fans’ heartstrings as one of the main vocalists of the group. The hip-hop duo Sehun and Chanyeol then hyped up the stage with their rap performances – “What A Life” and “Closer To You”.

EXO unites again with “Falling For You”, “Wait” and “Power”, not forgetting fanservice like throwing signed balls to the crowd! Kai also commanded everyone’s attention during his solo “Confession”, serving his powerful stage presence as the main dancer.

Moving on, the group brought the atmosphere to its peak with a medley of their top hits – “Growl”, “Overdose” and “Call Me Baby”. Despite being the second half of the show, the fan chants never quietened even for a moment. After a sweet VCR, the boys concluded the concert with an encore of “Unfair” and “On The Snow”. Each member took turns to express their gratitude towards Singapore EXO-Ls, who have been awaiting eagerly for the past 1.5 years.

While Sehun admitted his body was not in the best condition; he received encouragement from the fans. He also added they really love chilli crab, and couldn’t wait to have more! Chen joked that he will consider showing his thighs next time; and Kai was excited to return and perform more days. Attentive Suho noticed some fans were crying; and gently said “Don’t cry, baby”. The night came to a close with an emotional “Smile On My Face”.

With an impressive 25-song setlist, EXO ended fans’ weekend on a high note. The stage lighting & effects was undeniably one of the main highlights; making the whole watching experience even more remarkable. Even with only six members this time, the group still delivered a power-packed show for EXO-Ls, without missing an inch of effort.

#KPopTwitter Records 5.3 Billion Tweets Globally in 2018

2018 was a big year for KPOP, and with a new global record of 5.3 billion Tweets last year, Twitter continues to show that it's the best place to find out what's happening with KPOP and to talk about it with KPOP fans around the world!

Here are the top 20 countries (listed by region and in alphabetical order) that Tweeted the most about KPop in 2018:

North America: US, Canada
Latin America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru
Europe: France, Turkey, UK
Asia Pacific: India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam

Twitter also collaborated with 34 KPop bands and over 200 artistes to create KPop content available exclusively on the platform, such as with BTS, EXO and GOT7. Through a variety of engagements such as live Q&A sessions via the #TwitterBlueroom, fun emojis created for album comebacks, and even special voting on the platform, Twitter has strengthened its position as the top conversation platform for the global KPop community. In particular, #TwitterBlueroom broadcasts have been viewed over 10 million times in 2018.

These pieces of content also provided advertisers with an opportunity to reach out to the young and highly engaged KPop fans on a global scale. As such, Twitter extended its In-Stream Video Ads (IVA) capabilities to KPop content. In-Stream Videos Sponsorships (IVS) was also introduced, allowing brands to insert pre-roll ads into video highlights of KPop #TwitterBlueroom.

#2018MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) - 56 million Tweets in Just Three Days!

Over the course of three days leading up the #2018MAMA Awards from 12 to 15 December last year, KPop fans interacted with each other on Twitter and set a new record of 56 million award-related Tweets, surpassing the 42 million award-related Tweets in 2017!

The Twitter's exclusive 'Worldwide Icon of the Year' award got fans voting for their favourite bands and artists on the platform, accumulating up to 13.3 million Tweets in just three hours! Fans used the hashtag #MAMAVOTE, which trended worldwide, ranking #1 in 44 countries.

BTS is the Most Tweeted Account in the World

2018 was BTS' year, and it showed on Twitter. BTS was ranked as the #1 most Tweeted about account for 2018 worldwide. A Tweet featuring BTS member J-Hope participating in the #InMyFeelingsChallenge was the Most Liked Tweet worldwide last year with 1.8 million Likes.

The impact of BTS has also been recognised in corporate advertising. In order to promote their new smartphone, LG Electronics launched an official Twitter channel called LGxBTS, sharing video clips of BTS at award ceremonies such as the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, paired with In-Stream Video Ads. The pre-roll ads featured in the clips garnered 20 million views and 8.7 million engagements, making headlines on Twitter.

In November, KPop boy group EXO garnered huge attention by generating more than 24 million Tweets through the hashtag #EXO_Tempo, in anticipation for their comeback album, "Don't Mess Up My Tempo".

Fans of KPop boy band GOT7 (@GOT7Official) were in for a treat when they announced that their fans were able to view a series of behind-the-scenes production videos on Twitter related to their third studio album, Present: YOU, exclusively available through an instant unlock feature when they Tweeted with the #Lullaby hashtag. There were 2.4 million related Tweets over the 10 day campaign in October 2018.

100 days My Prince is a romantic historical drama about crown prince Lee Yool (played by EXO’s D.O) who suddenly disappears and comes back to the palace 100 days later. So, what happen to the crown prince after meeting Hong-Shim (played by Nam Ji-Hyun), the oldest unmarried woman in the village but is smart and runs the first private detective agency in Joseon?

1. Highest Viewership Rating

The heartwarming childhood story in the 1st Episode

100 Days My Prince has received great reviews after its first episode premiered last Monday with backstory telling the main characters’ childhoods leading to the present day. It was reported the drama has recorded an average viewership rating of 5.0% and the highest rating of 6.4%. 100 Days My Prince also set a new record for tvN drama, marked as the highest viewership rating historical drama among tvN dramas in the time slot.

2. Engaging Storyline

Nam Ji Hyun starring as Hong-Shim

If you’re not a fan of historical drama, you often engage historical drama as “the dull palace story” but 100 Days My Prince would change your perception towards it. By watching the teasers, we know there’s a heavy emphasis on the comedy, so definitely it won’t be “dull”. Actor Jo Han-Chul said during the press conference, “it’s a historical drama, but also trendy, humorous and comical”.

Starting with the heartwarming childhood crush story, bringing us back to the olden days then story dramatically changed when Lee Yool’s father (played by Jo Han-Chul) became the new king of Joseon and Lee Yool as the crown prince. (ps: enough for the spoiler ><) The engaging storyline and actors outstanding acting skills definitely put the drama in the 5-star list.

3. D.O First Lead Drama

EXO-L, you definitely wanted to list this to your must-watch drama list because 100 Days My Prince is D.O first lead drama, also, his first historical drama. D.O expressed his excitement by commenting (leading the drama) was “more challenging than I had imagined. But I didn’t feel pressured and had fun on set because the teamwork was great.”

Although it only aired for 2 episodes, but D.O has received many compliments for his outstanding acting skills. Not only in drama “It’s Okay, That’s Love”, movie “Along with Gods”, this time, the role Lee Yool also proven D.O as a potential actor who able to act in diverse characters. Many are looking forward to D.O’s lead role as Prince Yool and how the character turns into the useless village idiot, Won Deuk.
