tvN’s romance drama Encounter leads viewership ratings charts as this year-end’s blockbuster drama to watch!

Encounter”, this year-end’s highly-anticipated blockbuster drama series, premiered to stellar viewership ratings and looks set to rule the drama charts as ratings stay at a high, impressing viewers with scenic views and captivating storyline.

Featuring two powerhouses as the main leads – Park Bo Gum and Song Hye Kyo – the debut episode broke tvN’s viewership ratings record for a Wednesday-Thursday drama premiere and continues to be a leading drama in its timeslot across free-to-air and cable TV channels.

The debut episode recorded an impressive viewership rating of 8.7 per cent, surpassing the 6.3 per cent rating of hit K-drama Goblin’s premiere. “Encounter” has also claimed the top spot in its timeslot last week, outperforming SBS’ “An Empress’s Dignity” and MBC’s “Children of Nobody”, with viewership ratings of 7.6 per cent and 3.9 percent respectively. “Encounter” also holds the second highest premiere viewership rating among tvN’s dramas.
As the leading pan-regional OTT multi-screen video service by PCCW Media Group, Viu holds the exclusive rights to stream the drama online in Asia.
This means that Hallyu fans in Singapore can look forward to new episodes of the drama (with subtitles) on Viu every Thursday and Friday, just four hours after the telecast in Korea!

Encounter” sees the return of the two co-leads to the small screen. Song, who was last seen in “Descendants of the Sun”, plays the role of Cha Soo Hyun, a politician’s daughter, while Park of “Love in the Moonlight” fame returns as Kim Jin Hyuk, a free- spirited young man.

About Encounter
The drama centres on Cha Soo Hyun who divorces from her wealthy husband to free herself from her burdens. She then travels to Cuba and unexpectedly meets Kim Jin Hyuk who helps her in her moment of need. Their chance encounter continues upon their return to Korea where their lives start to intertwine in a fateful love story.

Viu launches Smart TV app
