The world may be ending, but at least things are about to get interesting. Netflix’s newest Korean superpowered comedy series, The WONDERfools, premieres this Friday, May 15, throwing audiences into a chaotic Y2K-era adventure filled with superpowers, eccentric characters, and unexpected heroes.

Set against the backdrop of the 1999 doomsday panic, The WONDERfools follows a group of neighborhood misfits who unexpectedly develop extraordinary abilities and find themselves, against all odds, thrust into a battle to save their city of Haeseong-si—and possibly the world. 

Led by an all-star cast including Park Eun-bin, Cha Eun-woo, Choi Dae-hoon, and Im Seong-jae, the series blends superhero action, quirky humour, heartfelt camaraderie, and nostalgic late-90s charm into an entertaining genre-bending spectacle.

At the heart of the story are ‘fools’ who are anything but ready to do ‘wonders’: Eun Chae-ni (Park Eun-bin), Haeseong-si’s resident troublemaker, who suddenly acquires teleportation powers. Alongside her are Kang Ro-bin (Im Seong-jae), who gains superhuman strength; Son Gyeong-hun (Choi Dae-hoon), whose strange abilities leave him literally stuck in place; and the mysterious Lee Un-jeong (Cha Eun-woo), a civil servant with telekinetic powers.

Speaking during the series’ press conference earlier this week, The WONDERfools director Yoo In-sik shared, "This genre is all about fun. Just like when you go to an amusement park, I hope the audience feels that excitement you get when fastening your seatbelt on a ride—that feeling of not wanting to leave until it’s over." Park Eun-bin added, “If you need a break from the complexities of this world, watch The WONDERfools!”. The series also marks the reunion of director Yoo In-sik and Park Eun-bin — the beloved Extraordinary Attorney Woo duo with a strong local and international fanbase.

Packed with inventive direction, witty dialogue, and a uniquely comedic ensemble, The WONDERfools is set to captivate audiences around the world as it premieres this Friday, May 15, exclusively on Netflix.

When a hardworking plastic surgeon is assigned to a remote Korean island as part of his military service, fate will connect him with the one person who can keep him sane in Doctor on the Edge - a new Korean romantic drama coming June 1 to Disney+.

For years, Do Jiui has studied tirelessly to become a top plastic surgeon at one of Korea’s best universities. Walled off from his emotions and driven by his singular focus, Jiui is suddenly snapped back to reality when he’s assigned to work for a year on a remote Korean island as part of his military service. Warned by his colleagues to avoid getting involved in accidents, people or love if he ever wants to get his career back on track, Jiui’s assignment gets off to an ominous start from the moment he steps on the ferry, with things rapidly getting worse from then. Stressed, emotional, and questioning what he did to deserve such a bad assignment, his only hope of making it through the year ahead lies in Yuk Hari, a helpful nurse who recently relocated to the island for unknown reasons.

Doctor on the Edge stars Lee Jaewook (The Impossible Heir, Alchemy of Souls) as Do Jiui, a plastic surgery resident assigned to Pyeondongdo - a remote Korean island - and Shin Yeeun (The Murky Stream, Revenge of Others) as Yuk Hari, a nurse from the big city who moves to Pyeondongdo for an unknown reason. The series is directed by Lee Myoungwoo (The Fiery Priest) and is written by Kim Jisoo (Missing Crown Prince).

Set to debut on Disney+ on June 1 at 22:30 MYT, new episodes of this 12-part series will launch every Monday and Tuesday through July 6 and 7.

Led by director Lee Tae-gon and starring Kim Hyang Gi, Cha Hak-yeon, Kim Jae-hyun, Son Jeong-hyuk, and Kim Dong-gyu, the series blends awkward teen moments, playful imagination, and emotional growth into one irresistible story.

The series follows Yeo Eui-ju (Kim Hyang Gi), an ordinary high school student who secretly leads a double life as an aspiring web novelist dreaming of success. We kept asking, ‘Can we really go this far?’ Because of that, there are many unexpected moments and movements you wouldn’t typically see.” Kim Jae-hyun added, “To portray a different character, I intentionally made my movements bigger and more expressive.” Kim Hyang Gi also spoke about stepping into the story as its creator, saying, “Whenever I appear in those scenes, I found myself acting more like the math teacher—being a bit strict and even telling them, ‘Why are you saying the line like that?’” Blending reality and imagination, the series delivers a playful and unpredictable viewing experience, where characters shift between worlds in surprising and entertaining ways.

Disney+ today announced that the recently released romantic comedy Perfect Crown has become the number one most viewed Korean series on Disney+ globally (based on five days of views).

First premiering on April 10, Perfect Crown follows the people’s favorite royal, Grand Prince I-AN, as he becomes embroiled in a power struggle with other members of the royal family. With pressure on the prince to wed, he strikes up a marriage of convenience with Huiju, the heir to a Korean conglomerate, but as the pair work together to advance their own ends, emotions begin to flare and things don’t go quite as smoothly as planned.

Perfect Crown stars IU (When Life Gives You Tangerines, My Mister) as Huiju, the second in line to inherit one of Korea’s biggest conglomerates, and Byeon Wooseok (Lovely Runner, Strong Girl Nam-soon) as Grand Prince I-AN. The series is directed by Park Joonhwa (Alchemy of Souls, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim) and is written by Yoo Jiwon.

With the first two episodes available to stream today on Disney+, new episodes will be released every Friday and Saturday night at 10:20PM MYT through the show’s series finale on May 16.

Prime Video today announced the upcoming premiere of Absolute Value of Romance, a youthful Korean coming-of-age series arriving exclusively on April 17. Blending awkward teenage moments with bittersweet humour, and heartfelt storytelling, the series follows a young aspiring writer navigating high school, friendship, and relationships.

The drama features a talented ensemble cast led by Kim Hyang Gi (Cashero, At Eighteen, Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds), alongside Cha Hak-yeon (Oh My Ghost Clients, Bad and Crazy), Kim Jae-hyun (Twenty-Five Twenty-One), Son Jeong-hyuk (You Are the Apple of My Eyes), Kim Dong-gyu (Dating Class), Kim Sohee (Fragile), and Singaporean actress Gladys Bay.

Absolute Value of Romance follows an ordinary high school student, Yeo Eui-ju, who leads a double life as a secret web novelist dreaming of success. When four charming new teachers arrive at her school, they become her unexpected muses. Their presence turns both her everyday life and her writing upside down.

Leading the cast is Kim Hyang Gi, one of South Korea’s most beloved young stars, who takes on the role of Yeo Eui-ju, an ordinary high school student who is average in every way and tries to keep a low profile at school. But at night, she secretly becomes a writer, posting daring adults-only novels online. Despite her enthusiasm, her work barely gets any views. Though highly observant and empathetic, she has always been hopeless when it comes to real-life romance. However, her life as a writer takes an unexpected turn when four handsome new teachers arrive at her school.

Cha Hak-yeon of K-pop boyband VIXX portrays Ga Woo-su, a gorgeous yet cold-looking man with piercing eyes who rarely smiles. Born and raised by a family of renowned mathematicians, he was a math prodigy with extraordinary memory, who taught himself to calculate numbers even before learning how to speak. However, when a life-changing incident occurred where he nearly lost his vision, he gave up on studying abroad and instead chose to become a math teacher. A new beginning at a high school and this one student, Eui-ju gets on his last nerves.

Kim Jae-hyun of rock band N.Flying portrays Noh Da-ju, a Japanese teacher and a gifted polyglot fluent in multiple languages. Always playful and sometimes mischievous, Da-ju is the ‘life of the party’ at school. Born to a wealthy family, he has been friends with Woo-su since elementary school. Nevertheless, they still squabble over everything as they’re so different as a person. However, deep in their heart, they truly care for each other like brothers.

Son Jeong-hyuk portrays Jung Gi-jeon, a luge athlete who retired due to a severe injury and became a sports teacher. Despite his masculine appearance, he is clumsy and warm on the inside, which makes him even popular among the students. Now, he has a new goal—turning Eui-ju, whom he sees as an exceptional talent in running, into his next sports prodigy.

Kim Dong-gyu portrays Yoon Dong-ju, a Korean teacher. Warm-hearted and innocent, Dong-ju’s charm is quite the opposite of his friends. Although he’s the eldest in the F4 group, he is often mistaken for the youngest because of his baby face. Treating his students with respect, he always uses honorifics and never loses his temper.

The cast also includes Kim Sohee as Choi Go-ya, a stylish and romantic-at-heart student who has been Eui-ju’s best friend for three years, and Gladys Bay as Jenny, an exchange student from Singapore who radiates positive energy wherever she goes.
