Thousands of fans welcomed Super Junior's Choi Siwon with tremendous cheers as he entered Sunway Pyramid last Saturday (29 June) to launch Kiehl's Made Better in Malaysia. Siwon displayed his love for the fans throughout the event by communicating in English and approached the fans to take selfie.

The event began with an opening address by Siwon "Apa Khabar. Hello Everyone. Saya Siwon Choi. It's glad to see you again and thank you for welcoming me this time." To reinforce Kiehl’s Made Better campaign, Siwon shared his personal stories undertaking recycling, efforts and advice on making the world a greener and healthier place. ”I believe in two things: Mission & Responsibility. Protect our planet for the future of our next generation”, said Siwon. When being asked what's his favourite skin care product, Siwon then commented "Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Mask is my favourite."

Following the Q&A session, Siwon joined Malek Beckdache, L’Oréal Malaysia Managing Director, Jennie Ma, General Manager of L’Oréal Luxe, Yvonne Liew, Deputy General Manager of L’Oréal Luxe and HC Chan, CEO of Sunway Malls & Themeparks to officiate the Made Better campaign in Malaysia. Each received a pot and spade to pour earth onto the Made Better greens as a symbol of our dedication towards a sustainable future to combat climate change.

The event continued with Siwon exploring Kiehl's unique Nature's Playground stations which include "Tree of Life", "PSLRC Orange Bus Slide", "Calenduland" and "Made Better station". Starting off with "Tree of Life", Siwon picked 4 Kiehl's empty bottles from the tree to be deposited in the Recycle & Be Rewarded bin located at the Made Better station. This brings to light Kiehl’s Recycle and Be Rewarded programme which encourages customers to do their part by bringing back their empties to any stores. In turn, customers receive complimentary gifts for every four bottles they recycle.

Before making his way to the next station, Siwon slowed down to have eye-contact with the fans and also, approached the crowd to take wefie. Siwon’s Nature’s Playground discovery continued to the PSLRC Orange Bus Slide for a photo stop. The orange elements at the bus highlights Kiehl’s customer’s favorite serum - Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate formulated with 12.5% of stabilized Vitamin C.

Further down to Calenduland, this station is inspired by Kiehl's worldwide best-selling toner – Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol Free Toner, and is the #1 customer favorite in Malaysia. Be sure to strike a pose at this stunning tunnel filled with Calendula flowers.

Meet and greet session came right after, which 10 lucky fans were selected on stage to receive a RM500 Kiehl's Calendula gift set and have a group photo with Siwon. Before giving them the gift set, Siwon politely asked each fans "Can I handshake?", "Can I hug?", which had the crowd melting in jealously. 

During the Media Q&A session, Siwon remarked his wish to collaborate with Dato' Michelle Yeoh as they have the same manager in the States and he added to bring Super Junior members along next time for Super Show 8.

Currently on its We Are Here world tour, MONSTA X stopped by Kuala Lumpur and pull off a blockbuster show last Saturday (22 June) at Stadium Malawati. Although Wonho unable to join the show as he lost his passport when landed Malaysia but the members filled up the space and energized us with their explosive and visually stunning live performances. 

Dressed in regal black suits, MONSTA X made their grand entrance with 'Shoot Out', followed by 'Hero' and 'Tresspass'. The boys turned into charismatic beasts and got fans dancing and chanting for them. During the opening break, each member took turns to greet the fans and Joohoney gave Monbebes lots of laughter as he associated himself with the iconic "baksu" phrase (meaning clap) which there was a scene of him giving some opinions to the trainee during the vocal training lesson on survival program, Produce X 101. After the greetings, leader Shownu then apologized to the crowd on Wonho issue and assured fans that they would give a great show regardless.

MONSTA X then moved to the centre stage and performed the chill R&B track 'Party Time' and the deep house trend 'Play It Cool'. Riding on the chilling vibes, the members then moved on to perform 'Mohae' and 'Jealousy'. After the hits, the members separated into different sub-units and showcased their talents in each stage. Starting from Kihyun, Hyungwon and Minhyuk, they dressed in dandy black suits and showed off their powerful choreography of 'Myself'.

The group's rappers Joohoney and I.M, however, impressed the crowd with the upbeat '3HYTHM', during which Joohoney also showed off his drumming skills. Joohoney explained he wanted to incorporate Monbebe in their concept so the number "3" was actually represented him, I.M and the fans. Shownu and Wonho's unit stage was not presented but to not disappoint the fans, Shownu showed a little preview of his version of 'Mirror'. Following his solo stage, Shownu expressed his wish to return to Malaysia together with Wonho next time to show a complete duo dance performance.

While other members were backstage to change their outfits, the 'ETC' line - Kihyun, Hyungwon and Minhyuk were on stage to explain how the sub-units were formed. Kihyun said Shownu naturally paired up with Wonho and Jooheon with I.M which left 3 of them with each other. Hence, they named themselves as ETC, the Et Cetera.
Clad in white, all the members back on stage and performed the heartfelt tracks 'Honestly', 'I Do Love You', 'Sweetheart' and 'No Reason'. Fans went frenzy when the members came to the centre stage to perform. After the VCR, the stadium changed to a more upbeat atmosphere when 'Myself' and 'Dramarama' were played. The members then asked the fans to stand up and dance along with 'Oh My!', 'Special' and 'Fallin'. Following the performances, I.M then announced one song left to perform and the lights went off after they performed 'Alligator'.

Mamonde's brand ambassador, Park Shin Hye returned to our shores last Friday (21 June) to officiate the launch of Mamonde Red Energy Recovery Serum held at Mid Valley Megamall. It's been 3 years since Park Shin Hye visited Malaysia but it was like yesterday when she first came here to greet the fans.

Park Shin Hye dressed in pink and appeared with her brand new short hairstyle which gave us a fresh and youthful look. The actress said this new hair cut is for her upcoming thriller movie "Call" which will be premiered in November and she's glad that the new look fits Mamonde as well.

Before saying goodbye to the crowd, Park Shin Hye once again thanked fans for the constant support and expressed her wish to hold an fan meeting in Malaysia to spend more time with the fans next time.

Guests were invited to view the new brand vision under Creative Director Nicola Glass, and enjoyed mocktails and canapés, followed by in-store activities including personalizing their own luggage tag with the new embossing machine while listening to DJ Irama’s upbeat music.

A line-up of chic models showcasing the new collection was accompanied by a medley of modern hits performed by Malaysian singer-songwriter, Bil Musa. 5-members AB6IX officially made they debut yesterday (22 May) with a fan showcase held in Seoul. In conjunction with their debut showcase, Warner Music Malaysia held a Private Debut Showcase Screening at GSC Nu Sentral exclusively for AB6IX fans in Malaysia. Hand banners were given and 150 fans who attended the debut showcase screening left heartfelt messages to AB6IX on the banner. 

AB6IX members are well known before their official debut as Park Woo Jin and Lee Dae Hwi previously promoted as members of Wanna One, while Lim Young Min and Kim Dong Hyun promoted as the duo group, MXM. Jeon Woong, however, was a former trainee from YG and JYP Entertainment. He previously had a short appearance on the battle between YG and JYP trainees on "Stray Kids" competition program. 

On the same day, AB6IX released their dynamic debut mini album called "B:Complete" which consists of 7 tracks including the title song "Breathe". "Breathe" is a trendy tropical deep house track that conveys the message of wanting to escape and be free from the pressure of the society. It's produced by Dae Hwi and co-wrote by Young Min and Woo Jin. Not only the title song, this mini album will also featured the members self-produced, composed and written tracks.

The members just know how to make their fans swoon over their charms, Eunhyuk showed how it's done as a comedy king by showing off his spontenous jokes and Donghae stole everyone's hearts with his soothing emotional voice. They put so much effort in keeping the pace going without leaving the crowd mundane throughout the 2-hours show. 

The showcase started with our local celebrity, Alvin Chong 'Tajam' performance. James showed up right after the opening act and played the acoustic love track "Let's Get Away" (a collaboration track with Girls Generation's Soo Young) and "Perfect" (a collaboration track featured f(x)'s Amber).

Riding on the collaboration tracks, James performed the title song "The Light" and wrapped the showcase with "Up". During the talk session, James expressed his wish to visit Malaysia more often to meet the fans. Fans who purchased 'The Light' EP were given a chance to meet James up close during the fan signing and meet and greet session.

Thanks to Universal Music Malaysia, we get to sit down with James to talk about his music and collaboration with Soo Young and Amber.

We met James one day earlier before the showcase to have a group interview

Q: How do you feel returning to Malaysia?

James: I really want to come back to Malaysia specifically because I had such a great time last two times when I was here. So, it was part of the deal. (haha) When they said "let's promote this in Malaysia" and I said "Just do it!" 

Q: Amber and Soo Young are featured in this EP, how did the collaboration come about? 

James: After my accident, Amber and Soo Young came to visit me quite often in the hospital. They are just very beautiful people from inside and out, like I am really lucky to have such sincere friends. Because is hard to allocate your time, you know people are busy. Like today, my media schedule is morning til night and they are doing that (as well). They are superstars. They have no time but they make the time (for me), so I feel very blessed by them. They both didn't ask for any pay and they just literally want to be part of this. 

I specifically want her (Soo Young) voice in "Let's Get Away" because I felt the melody is a little complicated but the song itself is very pure and she has a very pure voice so I thought it will match well with the song. For Amber, a lot of people know that she paid for half of the "Perfect" music video. She didn't get anything, she's just like 'Let's do this!'. She fights for what she believes in. It was a pleasure, absolute pleasure. She even brought me a Red Velvet signed album CD. I was like I was such a odd guy cause I was so happy. It's stated "James" and I was like "OMG they know me~" (haha) but I am BLACKPINK fan (hahaha) I just turned into their fans 2 days ago.

Q: What's your favourite verse in "The Light"?
James: The first line of The Light is so emotional but I think it describes how I feel so precisely at that time. Now I look back at it, I feel so cringy...(haha) You know how it feels when you looked back...Actually, I had like an online diary...like a long time ago and I wrote it when I was 13 years old...Is horrifying! Is like "my emotions today", so is kinda like that. But The Light, I was totally honest when I wrote it. I am not trying to trick anybody..not that I was before, but my intention is just to write how I felt and I think is very pure. "I am on the edge of clarity / It's the same fight everyday. / Chasing demons and ghosts away" that's how I felt honestly during that time.

Q: Tell us more about your music style.
James: It's been trending towards like EDM. I said like so many times I am a terrible dancer, horrible in dancing. Have you seen me trying to dance? It's like watching a car in slow motion. (haha) You'll be like.."No~ Stop!" So dancing is a no for me, rapping is a no for me but I love hip hop. I naturally just love listening to it, makes me feel good, feel tough. But I incorporated elements of hip hop in the EDM and pop music, so I kinda made that into my own colour with my voice.

Q: What songs do you listening to right now? Did you get any inspiration from there? 

Other Media: Other than BLACKPINK, Red Velvet..?

James: Actually, I didn't listen to BLACKPINK that much, I watch BLACKPINK (haha). I have been listening to more like Blackbear, Loud... like Western pop. And there's a Chinese artist called Lin You Jia (Yoga Lin) that I really like, his music is more like old school radio head, oasis..kinda like alternative pop rock.

Q: So, any upcoming songs with similar music genre?
James: You know people get influenced by what they see. But Indie rock is how I started, like metal indie rock/ R&B. But I don't think is special, my songs are more like emo/ EDM/ elements of hip hop.

Q: What's your upcoming plan this year?
James: This year, I'll be releasing a lot of music. I wrote..I have like 10 new songs that already mastered and just waiting for the right time to release. Cause the thing with The Light EP is I feel like a lot of people didn't get to listen to some of the tracks on the EP other than the ones...Like the one that Soo Young did was great cause she's the senior. But others didn't get much attraction, like the original version of "Let's Get away", that's my favourite track. So, I want to release new singles and I also wrote some songs with my friend, Erik Lidbom. If you know K-POP, you definitely heard his songs, just that you don't know is he who did it. He also did pretty much of J-POP. He wrote songs for EXO, TWICE, CN BLUE. He's out there, he's one of the creators of the K-POP sound and he wrote BOA's "Hurricane Venus". He's a genius, we wrote 4-5 songs together.

May 10, there's a song called "Mad" will be coming out. Technically, that is the most positive song since "The Light". "Automatic" is a fun, dancey song. When I try to perform, that is so different but I think I am gonna get use to it. But "Mad" is something closer to "The Light" and I think it's a powerful track. I am very happy with this one. Yes, a lot of music and hopefully more to come.
