Insomniacks and OPPO Malaysia Find Their Own Way With “See Wider. Live Bigger”
This Merdeka and Malaysia Day, OPPO Malaysia has teamed up with Malaysian pop-rock band Insomniacks for an original song, “See Wider. Live Bigger.” The collaboration uses the spirit of independence to encourage Malaysian youths to look beyond other people’s expectations and define success on their own terms.
Formed in Kuala Lumpur, Insomniacks first gained wider attention with their 2018 single “Pulang,” which spent 146 consecutive weeks on Malaysia’s RIM streaming charts. Since then, the band has built a strong digital following, with more than 100 million YouTube views and 61 million Spotify streams.
Known for their rock and indie anthems and lyrics that connect with younger Malaysian audiences, Insomniacks bring that same perspective to “See Wider. Live Bigger.” The song moves from the feeling of being boxed in by expectations about what life should look like toward a clearer idea of choosing and building your own future.
The message also reflects OPPO’s belief that technology should empower people to see further and dream bigger, echoing the philosophy behind the OPPO Reno16 Series 5G.
Shot entirely on the OPPO Reno16 Series 5G, the exclusive music video takes Insomniacks and a group of young Malaysians through Kuala Lumpur.
The video opens with the band travelling around the city on the KL-Hop-On-Hop-Off bus, passing landmarks including the Petronas Twin Towers and Dataran Merdeka. Elsewhere, a group of young Malaysians gathers at a café, making plans for their next adventure.
Their plans take an unexpected turn when the Insomniacks bus pulls up. Inspired and excited, they jump aboard, joining the band and fellow fans for a lively ride through the city.
The journey eventually leads to a live performance, where Insomniacks take the stage surrounded by a crowd dressed in a mix of everyday and traditional outfits. What starts with a small group of strangers ends with a room brought together by music, capturing the song’s message of finding your own direction while moving forward alongside others.
