Asia’s Stars Unite in Malaysia for First-Ever 2026 Weibo Cultural Communication Night

The 2026 Weibo Cultural Communication Night Malaysia made its highly anticipated debut on August 1 at Idea Live Arena, Kuala Lumpur. Organized by Weibo, co-hosted by New Concept Corp, and supported by Tourism Malaysia, this year's event carried the theme "丝韵永续 和合共生," celebrating cultural diversity through entertainment, technology, sports, and the arts.
The star-studded evening welcomed celebrities from across Asia, including Malaysian artists Ah Niu and Jess Lee, Chinese stars Allen Ren and Bosco Wong, Thai superstars Billkin and Baifern Pimchanok, as well as Vietnamese singer-actress Chi Pu. Together with cultural figures, athletes, and industry leaders from various countries, the event highlighted the power of entertainment in bringing different cultures together.

As Weibo's flagship international cultural IP, Weibo Cultural Communication Night has previously been held in Thailand, Singapore, and Macao, China. This year marked its first stop in Malaysia, drawing inspiration from the centuries-old friendship between China and Malaysia. By blending Nanyang heritage, Eastern arts, contemporary music, and innovative technology, the event created a platform where cultural exchange became more interactive, immersive, and locally connected.

Malaysia's multicultural identity provided the perfect backdrop for the event. Built upon the long-standing historical ties between China and Malaysia through trade, migration, and cultural exchanges, the evening celebrated the traditions and values shared by both nations while embracing modern creativity.
One of the night's standout moments was the unique calligraphy performance by Wang Chengxuan, who wrote with a traditional chinese calligraphy brush on stage while a robot simultaneously created calligraphy alongside her. The visually captivating performance demonstrated how traditional Chinese art can be reimagined through modern technology, offering audiences a fresh and engaging cultural experience.

Singer Li Xinyi also delivered an emotional performance of "One Thought" (一念), a traditional-inspired pop ballad centred on longing, family bonds, and reunion. The heartfelt performance beautifully reflected the evening's message of harmony and echoed the enduring friendship between China and Malaysia.
Beyond the dazzling performances and celebrity appearances, the event highlighted the power of cultural exchange by bringing together traditional arts, entertainment, sports, and technology on one stage.

Through Weibo's digital platform, the event will continue to connect global audiences through multimedia content and online engagement, inspiring greater appreciation of diverse cultures. As Weibo Cultural Communication Night expands to more countries, it continues to build bridges through creativity, collaboration, and meaningful connections.
