When Music Meets Mukbang: Doh Kyung Soo Charms Fans in 'DO it! in Malaysia'

Monday, September 01, 2025

It’s been a year since Doh Kyung Soo last stood on the Axiata Arena stage, and on 30 August 2025, he returned to the very same venue - Axiata Arena with his much-anticipated ‘DO it!’ Asia Concert Tour. Once again, Malaysian Dandanies proved their unity—this time filling the arena in white outfits with a touch of green, a sea of colors that Kyung Soo noticed right away and warmly acknowledged during his ment.
The night began with ‘Do You Remember?’ and ‘Nobody Knows It’ from his first full album BLISS. Fans who had witnessed last year’s concert immediately sensed the difference—Kyung Soo promised more hype songs this time around, and he delivered. From heartfelt performances of ‘Mars’, ‘Where You Were’, ‘Simple Joys’, ‘Fit’, and ‘I’m Gonna Love You’, the mood swiftly shifted when Kyung Soo suddenly asked everyone to get on their feet and chant for ‘Popcorn’. What followed—‘5 Minutes’ and ‘Sing Along!’—turned the arena into a giant chorus, proving that the Dandanies were ready to dance, jump, and scream with him all night long.

Midway, the lights dimmed for a surprise EXO medley. Lyrics of ‘First Snow’, ‘Don’t Go’, and ‘Growl’ appeared on the LED screen, inviting fans to sing together. Just when nostalgia peaked, Kyung Soo reappeared on stage to perform ‘Love Me Right’ and ‘Peter Pan’ live, amplifying the emotional connection. The fan chants from both EXO-Ls and Dandanies were deafening, reflecting how much they still cherish EXO, while eargerly hoping for a full group comeback soon.
One of the most standout elements of this tour stop was the live band. Kyung Soo’s rich vocals, layered with live instrumentals, elevated every track. Although he humbly admitted that his voice wasn’t in the best condition during rehearsals, fans could only disagree—he sounded flawless throughout the night. Even the fan sing-along session was accompanied by the band, rather than a simple backing track, making the moment feel alive and special.
As the concert continued, fan favorites such as ‘It’s Love’, ‘My Dear’, ‘I Do’, and ‘That’s Okay’ filled the arena. Kyung Soo paused to share, “When I made the album, my main goal is for my fans to feel happy when they listen to it.” To make sure his message reached everyone, he thoughtfully included English translations of his lyrics on screen. Songs like ‘I’ll Be There’, ‘Draw My Path’, ‘In Another Life’, and ‘Somebody’ carried heartfelt sentiments, and the Dandanies responded by singing along word for word.
Kyung Soo also made sure laughter filled the arena. Picking up bits of Malay, he charmed fans with phrases like “Korang sabar-sabar,” “Leklu,” “Jom,” “Terima Kasih,” and “Korang mantap!” The funniest twist? Instead of asking for fan chants for his songs, he asked for fan chants for food. With a grin, he shared, “I ate satay and nasi goreng today, but didn’t get to try laksa yet. Talking about food already makes me hungry. I’m gonna eat it after the concert—so let’s all eat laksa together later!” His genuine love for food reminded everyone of his true mukbang king status.
Before the encore, Dandanies surprised him with a special video montage showcasing Malaysia’s local delicacies and iconic KL landmarks. Kyung Soo’s eyes lit up as he admitted, “Some food I never see before—I’m gonna try it next time.” It was a wholesome exchange of culture, music, and love between artist and fans. Wrapping up the night, he performed ‘Rose’ and one more round of ‘Sing Along!’, leaving everyone with smiles, hoarse voices, and full hearts.
The 2025 ‘DO it!’ in Malaysia concert proved once again why Doh Kyung Soo’s artistry continues to resonate so deeply—his voice, humor, sincerity, and love for Dandanies all shined brighter than ever. As the crowd dispersed, many carried the same thought: May Kyung Soo return to Malaysia every year—with new songs, new stories, and maybe even new dramas or movies—while we wait for the next concert.

We would like to thank UnUsUaL Entertainment, HS Entertainment and Altus Prohouse for the invitation.
