MONSTA X Make History With THE X as Album Cracks Billboard 200 and Dominates Six Charts
Thursday, September 18, 2025MONSTA X are proving their staying power a decade into their career. The K-pop group’s latest mini album THE X entered the Billboard 200 at No. 31, according to the chart dated September 20. Released on September 1, the record marks MONSTA X’s first time entering the main chart with a Korean album, solidifying a new milestone as the group celebrates its 10th anniversary.
The achievement did not stop there. THE X also landed at No. 3 on World Albums, No. 5 on Independent Albums, No. 6 on Top Album Sales, No. 6 on Top Current Album Sales and No. 25 on the Billboard Artist 100, bringing the group to six Billboard chart placements in total.
This is not the group’s first Billboard success. Their first U.S. full-length All About Luv debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 in 2020, followed by their English-language album The Dreaming, which stayed on the chart for two consecutive weeks. With THE X, MONSTA X have once again showcased their global reach while celebrating ten years together.
The album itself reflects both the group’s past and their future. The title refers to “the only complete unknown” and also connects to the Roman numeral X for 10, a nod to their anniversary. THE X marks the reunion of all six members and highlights their direct involvement in writing, composing and selecting the songs.
The global press has taken notice. Rolling Stone praised the group’s hands-on artistry and noted how THE X demonstrates their growth. Forbes spotlighted MONSTA X’s pioneering spirit, recognizing how their journey through Korean, Japanese and English records has positioned them as icons of the Korean music scene.
With critical acclaim and a strong Billboard debut, THE X sets the stage for MONSTA X’s powerful new chapter.
