According to Billboard’s The 25 Best K-pop Songs of 2025: Staff Picks, released on December 18 local time, IVE’s “XOXZ” stood out as a defining release of the year. The song, which serves as the title track of IVE’s fourth mini album IVE SECRET, drew praise for its emotional depth and refined musical structure.

Inspired by the expression “XOXO,” “XOXZ” presents a coded message that blends affection with emotional complexity. Built around the sentiment of “I love you, good night, and see you in your dreams,” the track explores layered feelings rather than a single emotion, earning strong responses from listeners worldwide.

Billboard described the song as mysterious yet emotionally resonant, noting that it delivers a deep emotional pull without the need for explanation. MONSTA X’s Jooheon is officially opening 2026 with new solo music. On January 5, he will release his second mini album, Gwang (INSANITY), marking his first solo comeback in nearly three years.

On December 18, Starship Entertainment surprised fans by unveiling a coming-soon video and concept spoiler illustration through MONSTA X’s official social media channels. The short teaser immediately set the tone for the release, featuring a bold red background layered with rough noise textures that hinted at an intense and hip atmosphere. At the center of the video was the album’s logo, inspired by the Chinese character for light, 光, while the release date, January 5, 2026, appeared at the bottom, confirming the long-awaited return.

Alongside the video, a black-and-white concept illustration drew attention with its comic-style storytelling. Set in an apartment hallway, the image featured detailed elements such as a bee symbol associated with Jooheon, a man running forward, and posters lining the walls. The visual suggested movement, tension, and narrative depth, offering subtle clues about the story behind the album.

Gwang (INSANITY) arrives approximately two years and eight months after Jooheon’s first solo album, Lights, released in May 2023. DAZED introduced KiiiKiii as a hidden gem that delivered one of the most visually interesting debuts in recent memory. The magazine praised the group’s natural yet distinctive aesthetic, noting that “DANCING ALONE” reflects their approach of portraying ordinary girls in an honest and relatable way. “Do What I Want” was pre-released in September ahead of the official launch of the mini album “THE X”. The song was composed by member Joohoney, with lyrics written by Joohoney and I.M. In 2024, he released his raw and revealing fourth studio album, ROOM UNDER THE STAIRS, via Mercury Records to critical acclaim, and embarked on his first-ever solo tour across the US, UK, and Mexico. Most recently, ZAYN collaborated with Borderlands 4 to release “Break Free,” an original song created for the latest installment in the popular video game franchise.

Attracting over 79 million Instagram followers and generating billions of streams, JISOO launched her meteoric solo rise in 2023. She earned accolades and made history with her debut single album, ME, which immediately became the best-selling album by a solo female artist in South Korea and the first to sell more than 1 million copies. Along the way, JISOO’s influence has also spread across fashion and culture.
