APINK’s Return to Malaysia Was Worth The 8-Year Wait

Friday, May 08, 2026

After eight long years, Apink finally reunited with Malaysian Pandas at their highly anticipated APINK 8th Concert “The Origin” 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, held on 3 May at Mega Star Arena — and what unfolded was a night filled with nostalgia, emotions, and the kind of bond only time can build.

Even before the concert began, the excitement surrounding the venue was undeniable. Fans arrived dressed in various shades of pink in celebration of APINK’s official fandom colour and the group’s meaningful 15th anniversary. Despite the show starting around 40 minutes late, the energy inside the arena never faded as Malaysian Pandas eagerly waited for the members to appear on stage after nearly a decade.
The concert immediately sent fans down memory lane as APINK opened the night with “I Don’t Know,” the lead track from their debut album. The nostalgic journey continued with beloved classics including “Bubibu,” “My My,” “NoNoNo,” and “Five,” instantly transforming the arena into a massive sing-along session. For many longtime fans, it felt like reliving their youth alongside the group they had grown up with.

One of the biggest surprises of the night came when APINK transformed into their special boy-group alter ego, A-Green. Dressed sharply in black suits, the members stunned the crowd with a charismatic cover of TVXQ’s legendary hit “Mirotic.” The unexpected concept drew explosive cheers from the audience, prompting the members to jokingly say that perhaps A-Green should extend its promotions and even release an official debut song. It's definitely a YAY from us!
Originally created just for the tour, A-Green showcased a completely different side of APINK — chaotic, playful, and wildly charismatic compared to their usual girl-group image. The overwhelming positive response from fans also proved how exciting it is to see APINK continue experimenting with new concepts even after 15 years in the industry.

Another standout star of the night was undoubtedly Nam-joo, who unexpectedly became the concert’s “Best BM Commentator.” Throughout the night, Namjoo continuously impressed fans with her BM phrases including “Jerit!”, “Janji!”, “Hati-hati balik rumah,” and “Jumpa lagi.” Her effort to learn and communicate in the local language made fans feel even more connected to the group, creating warm and natural interactions throughout the concert.

Of course, no APINK concert would be complete without their endless list of iconic hits. The members also performed fan-favourite tracks including “I’m So Sick,” “LUV,” “Mr. Chu,” “Remember,” and “D N D,” among many others. At this point in their career, APINK’s discography is packed with so many legendary songs that listing them all almost feels impossible.
However, the most emotional moment of the night belonged entirely to Malaysian Pandas. Fans had specially prepared a heartfelt fan video dedicated to APINK, thanking them for the past 15 years and welcoming them back to Malaysia after such a long wait. The touching tribute left the members visibly emotional, with tears flowing across the stage. Eun-ji, who is known among fans for rarely crying, became especially overwhelmed after watching the video. Struggling to hold back her emotions, she repeatedly thanked fans while apologising for making them wait so long.
“It’s our 15th anniversary, but you guys waited 8 years… which is almost half of that time. How did you wait for us for so long? Thank you so much for waiting.”

The rare sight of Eunji crying immediately became one of the most memorable moments of the concert, with the members themselves teasing her by saying they had not seen her cry in ages. They also praised Malaysian fans for creating such a touching moment.

The surprises from Malaysian Pandas did not end there. During “The Wave,” fans raised pink balloons throughout the venue, recreating the nostalgic atmosphere of 1990s K-pop concerts where fandoms famously waved coloured balloons to support their idols. The simple yet meaningful project deeply moved the members, who were seen watching the crowd with teary eyes.

After waiting eight years for APINK’s return, the dedication and sincerity shown by Malaysian fans clearly touched the group’s hearts. Throughout the concert, the members repeatedly praised the crowd’s energy and efforts, proving that Malaysian Pandas were truly seen and appreciated.

APINK wrapped up the unforgettable night with “Hold My Hand” and “Up to the Sky,” bringing the concert to a warm and emotional close.

Fifteen years is an incredibly long journey for any idol group, and for both APINK and their fans, being able to grow together through music, memories, and time itself is something truly precious. In an industry where longevity is rare, every reunion feels even more meaningful — especially when the group returns to a country that has waited so patiently for them.

Here’s hoping the next reunion with APINK will not take another eight years, but perhaps happen again next year instead.

Thank you T-Rex Studio for the invitation!
