tvN’s latest original production Wok The World, in partnership with Viu, is here for shooting in Singapore. Michelin 3-starred chef, a.k.a. Demon Chef, Alvin Leung along with his apprentice, MasterChef Canada Season 1 winner, Eric Chong and K-pop heartthrob Nichkhun of 2PM, are here to delve into Singapore’s local delicacies and get inspirations from different landmarks to develop their very own gastronomic creations.

Wok The World sees Alvin and Eric embark on a quest to bring Chinese culinary traditions to a new level. The journey covers the Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Singapore. With their unbridled ingenuity, the duo transforms celebrated traditional Chinese and Southeast Asian cuisines into new masterful gastronomic creations.

Their expedition brings them to Asia, specifically Southeast Asia, which has been a prevalent destination for Chinese immigrations for centuries. The programme showcases the lively combination between Alvin with his brass and eccentric personality; charismatic millennial master chef, Eric Chong, as well as the most sought-after K-power!

Self-confessed cooking fan, Nichkhun joins tvN's Wok The World to recreate famous local delicacies with renowned chefs

Wok the World picks Singapore as one of its shooting sites, kicking off its first episode at popular lifestyle destination, Resorts World Sentosa. With its diversified culture and where majority of its citizens are of Chinese descents, Singapore is ideal for the chef duo and Nichkhun to find their muse for these gastronomic creations! Famous for his ability to deconstruct and reconstruct dishes, Alvin focuses on the traditional Lo Hei Yu Sheng and Bak Kut Teh, and recreates elevated versions in consultation with Executive Chef Li Kwok Kwong of Cantonese restaurant Feng Shui Inn at Resorts World Sentosa.

New Journey To The West 5 Welcomes Block B's P.O + New Concept "Along With The Ghosts"

Renowned Korean variety show Producing Director Na Young-Seok (Na PD) is finally back with his popular series New Journey To The West, which will premiere exclusively on tvN in Asia on 6 October (Every Saturday) at 21:00 (GMT+8). Returning with a fifth season, the show’s original members Kang Ho-dong, Lee Soo-geun, Eun Ji-won, Ahn Jae-hyun and Song Min-ho (MINO), welcomes new member, the rising star in variety shows – P.O from boy group Block B. The six of them altogether radiate happy vibes and strive to make audience roll on the floor laughing!

New Journey To The West 5 Teaser:

The show has already gained public attention since the release of a teaser, which highlighted the zest of this season within a few minutes, “Na Young-Seok production team, which only specializes in cooking and travelling, has returned with his most notorious series after a year’s break. Unlike his other master pieces such as Youn’s Kitchen and Little Cabin in the Woods, the program has no host with outstanding foreign language skills but members who are illiterate with google translate; in extremely low resolutions with questionable camera angles; and provides contents that are way below audience’s expectation.” This hilarious narration underlines the charms that can only be found in New Journey to the West series, creating even more anticipation to the show’s premiere!

In previous seasons, the show borrowed elements from classic Chinese novel Journey to the West and Japanese anime Dragon Ball to develop members’ characters and storylines. This time the production team plays around with the Korean blockbuster Along With The Gods by giving the show a subheading Along With The “Ghosts”, creating a whole new concept of amazing characters for the members. In the teaser, Kang Ho-dong dresses as No-Face a.k.a. Kaonashi from Spirited Away; Lee Soo-geun plays Chucky from Child’s Play slasher film series; Eun Ji-won as a Grim Reaper with serious dark circles under his eyes; Ahn Jae-hyun dresses up as a Chinese zombie; MINO portrays Sadako from popular Japanese horror movie The Ring with added hair rollers to “beautify” his look; and P.O rocks Dracula’s costume. All members not just simply deliver an eye-catching image with their hilarious outfits, but also make the audience curious about the roles of each character and their chemistry in between.

Yoo Jae Suk and Jo-Seho Shows Perfect Chemistry in new variety show You Quiz on the Block

tvN’s latest 24-hour express variety show in Asia– You Quiz On The Block (刘在街头) – hosted by Korean National MC Yoo Jae-suk and top Korean comedian Jo Se-ho, will premiere exclusively on tvN in Asia from 30 August (Every Thursday) at 20:30 (GMT+8). The program is Yoo Jae-suk’s first venture into working with tvN, pairing up with his familiar partner, Jo Se-ho, definitely draws audience’s keen attention to their perfect comedic chemistry.

You Quiz On the Block is a new concept variety show by tvN, a quiz show that aims at spreading warmth and support to the public. With Yoo Jae-suk and Jo Se-ho entering ordinary people’s daily lives, they will randomly chat with the passer-by along the street and surprise them with pop quizzes. The highlight of the show is the duo will withdraw money straight from the ATM for those who answer all the questions correctly. “It is normal that we feel exhausted in our everyday monotonic lives, so we want to give people a refreshing day, something out of their daily routine,” remarked the production crew.

In the latest promotion video, audience can see that the hosts are carrying foldable chairs and wandering along the streets, shouting out “You Quiz?” to anyone they meet. They will then sit wherever they like and start talking to people. There is no limitation to the interviewees, they can be taxi drivers, shop owners, students, the elderly, or clerks, etc. Since everything is improvised, all the unexpected reactions from the interviewees certainly spice up the show, bringing laughter to the audience.

tvN Asia’s One Night Food Trip – International Edition 2 Concludes Shooting in Taiwan and will Move to 3rd Stop Malaysia

tvN Asia’s travel and food original production One Night Food Trip – International Edition season 2 commences shooting. A spin-off of the popular CJ E&M format of the same name, One Night Food Trip – International Edition adds local Asian celebrities to create relevance to its target audience. This season, the 16-episode travel show brings audience to the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Korea. tvN Asia’s original production One Night Food Trip – International Edition 2 Philippine segment will premiere exclusively on tvN in Asia on 30 July (Monday) at 18:30 (GMT+8).

Global influencer/model, Irene Kim and Taiwanese celebrity Gabriel Lan

Earlier production team wrapped up shooting at the second destination, foodieland Taiwan. Korean model and global influencer Irene Kim, who pairs up with Taiwan local celebrity Gabriel Lan going from Hualien to Taitung. They are able to experience some of the most authentic Taiwanese breakfast foods, including egg pancakes, Taiwanese macarons Xiao Xi Dian; and go on a cultural escapade visiting a resort/restaurant where you can eat and live like a true Taiwanese. As the team concludes their trip, they hop on a hot air balloon to oversee the colourful skyline of Taitung.

Se7en and Christina Mok to complete the given mission

Opposing to Irene and Gabriel are internationally renowned K-pop singer, Se7en and Taiwan actress and model, Christina Mok. The team starts off with a famous city in the South, Kaohsiung and go all the way to Tainan, where they face some interesting missions, such as eating shaved ice that serves 6 people, drinking beef soup in a lively morning, as well as visiting a traditional Taiwanese market that has everything!

The third stop of the show will go to the diverse Malaysia where competitors in last season, Jung Joon-young and Jo Se-ho face off each other once again. Shooting will commence in mid-July. Want to find out who bring home the Golden Passport? Stay tuned to find out!
