Kihyun Maps Out His Next Chapter as ‘BORDERLINE’ Countdown Officially Begins

MONSTA X’s Kihyun has officially kicked off the countdown to his long-awaited return.

On June 22, Starship Entertainment unveiled the scheduler for Kihyun’s second mini album, BORDERLINE, through MONSTA X’s official social media channels, giving fans their first look at the upcoming comeback rollout.

Presented as a short video inspired by an airport security checkpoint, the scheduler featured items such as a suitcase, camera, tumbler and headset, creating the feeling of travel and a new journey ahead. The concept also connects to the previously released coming soon teaser, raising anticipation for the album and its upcoming promotional content.

According to the schedule, Kihyun will release a trailer on June 23, followed by the tracklist on June 24. Three versions of concept photos will then be revealed on June 25, June 27 and June 29, offering fans different glimpses into the album’s world.

The buildup continues with a music video teaser on July 5 and an album preview on July 6, before BORDERLINE officially arrives on July 7.

The new release is expected to further expand the musical world and narrative Kihyun has built through his first solo single VOYAGER and his first mini album YOUTH. With a stronger sense of identity and confidence, BORDERLINE is set to tell the story of Kihyun standing before a new journey while showcasing a wider range of music.

Over the years, Kihyun has proven himself as MONSTA X’s main vocalist through world tours, festival stages and OST projects, steadily broadening his artistic range and distinctive vocal color. With BORDERLINE, he is expected to reveal a more mature sound and deeper emotions, offering another side of himself as a solo artist.

Kihyun’s second mini album BORDERLINE will be released on July 7 at 6 p.m. KST through major online music platforms.
