The inaugural StarHub Night of Stars ended on a high note as 34 artistes from across Asia lit up the Sands Theatre in Marina Bay Sands to celebrate the best of Asian entertainment on StarHub TV on 22 December. Korean sensation Lee Joon Gi and Chinese actress Qin Lan emerged as the big winners of the night, taking home the 2018 StarHub Best Male and Female Asian Star Awards respectively. The Samsung Galaxy presents StarHub Night of Stars saw a total of 13 awards presented to artistes from China, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan to recognise their achievements in 2018.

This year the powerful girl group, GFRIEND, had been selected as the ambassador of Coex Winter Festival 2018. As the ambassador, GFRIEND was invited to the opening ceremony on 20th December, and with the accompany of other organisers, they officially launched the event and took photos with the organisers while holding the mascot of the event.

In celebration to Christmas, GFRIEND performed "Feliz Navidad" with their joyful spirit that infects everybody at the scene. In addition, they performed "TRUST", which is one of the side track in their 3rd mini album “Snowflake”. TRUST was chosen to be performed because it suits this winter and it has the ability to bring warmth to anybody that hears it. Although Sowon not able to attend the opening ceremony, but the members filled the venue with their energetic performances.

'BTOB in Malaysia 2018' Left Fans with Unforgettable Performances & Heartwarming Moments

As we're so
close to the end of 2018, we’re pretty sure that BTOB has made Melodies' year
even more special as they held their first fan-meeting in Malaysia on 16th of December (Sunday) at
MITEC’s Ballroom, Kuala Lumpur.
Although this was not the first time BTOB has ever visited
Malaysia, this fan meeting in particular was a very meaningful one for Melodies. As you might not know, it will be the last overseas promotions for BTOB members Minhyuk and Changsub before their military enlistment. Hence, the venue was filled with over hundreds of Melodies that travelled all the way from different cities and countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan and South Korea - uniting together with Malaysian Melodies to show their love and support for the boys for one last time.
It is obvious how excited Melodies are as most of them wore matching blue outfits to fit in the theme of the fan meeting - proudly showing off their cute banners
and unique fan light sticks that come in the form of saxophones. As they waited patiently for the BTOB, the lights suddenly
went off and fans started screaming as the VCR intro came up, the crowd
went wild as BTOB members finally made their grand entrance with their first song, Missing You.

While most k-pop groups started off their shows with
charismatic and fast-paced songs, BTOB surprisingly wow-ed the crowd with a
soft ballad as their first opening track. The
boys’ stage presence was incredible, their distinctive vocals were incredibly stable and smooth as they tried to hit the high
and difficult notes. Melodies sang their hearts out and fan chants echoed the whole venue, waving their light sticks energetically to their heart-wrenching performance.
The boys took a short pause to properly introduced themselves
to the fans. As BTOB is known for being a 7-member group, which consist of
leader Eunkwang, Changsub, Minhyuk, Hyunsik, Peniel, Ilhoon, and Sungjae.
However, this time there were only 6 members attended the show as Eunkwang is
already in the military.
“This is our first fan meeting in Malaysia without Eunkwang,
but he will always be forever in our hearts.” said Changsub.
BTOB continued to entertain the crowd with their songs including
Friend, It's Okay and Climax.

There were couples of segments including “Melody’s Wish” where BTOB would have to choose fans' wishes in the form of sticky notes that fans had written before the show. The first wish that came up was a dance battle between Sungjae and Changsub. Their sudden impromptu dancing left the fans and other members bursting into laughter, which made it difficult for the fans to choose the final winner! Who do you think won the dance battle? Other members including Hyunsik did a smooth cover of Frank
Sinatra’s “Moonwalk” and another wish that was granted when Peniel asked the
fan to come up on stage to sing along with BTOB, her vocals impressed the
whole crowd, which made the members jokingly asked the fan to replace
Eunkwang’s position. (New member

One of the highlights of the night was when BTOB members were very
enthusiastic about learning the Malay language! Hani, which was the MC for the
night – taught the boys on how to nail the famous Malay jargons and words, including “Lek
lu!” (Relax first!)”, “Cepat Sikit!” (Hurry!) and “Sayang awak!” (I love you)! Check out the video below to listen

The boys continued to perform other hit songs including Movie,

Aside from their amazing vocals and cool rapping, the boys
are just natural entertainers and their personalities were more than enough to
make Melodies’ hearts full and happy. If there is another opportunity that will fall onto their laps, BTOB promised to return to Malaysia with complete 7 members.

CJ ENM announced that Asia’s biggest music awards ‘2018 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards)' came to a great finale in Hong Kong last Friday, 14 December 2018 concluding the week-long journey of ‘MAMA WEEK.’

'2018 MAMA in Hong Kong’s red carpet and award show was broadcasted live via Mnet and major channels throughout Asia, including Mwave, YouTube, Naver TV, V Live etc., covering over 200 regions worldwide. CJ ENM reported that during the red carpet alone, more than 9.2 million votes were casted for the ‘Best Asian Style’, and MAMA ranked number one for worldwide Twitter trends, solidifying MAMA’s global presence and buzz among global music fans.
This year’s '2018 MAMA in HONG KONG' was filled mega-stage performances combined with Mnet’s advanced stage production to create the best stages for Asia’s top artists. More than 14,000 fans gathered at the AsiaWorld-Expo Arena to see their favorite artists perform, which included a star-studded lineup: BTS, Chung Ha, GOT7, Heize, IZ*ONE, Roy Kim, WANNA ONE, Seventeen, Sunmi, etc.
MAMA was completed with artists from all across the globe to perform and present awards. The female lead of ‘Scarlet Heart: Ryeo’, better known as hit singer IU, brought the house down during her solo concert ‘dlwlrma’ on Saturday night at The Star Theatre! The nation sister adorably shared that this is the first time she’s setting foot in Singapore, and that she was really excited to be here! She went on to add that she was even more amazed after seeing Singapore in person (compared to seeing Singapore onscreen), and that she has fallen in love with the city. Although she was extremely apologetic towards her fans for not realizing that her fanbase here was so strong.
Throughout the 2-hour long show, she performed an array of songs ranging from classic hits such as ‘You & I’, ‘Only I Didn’t Know’, to slow ballads such as ‘Through the Night’. Fans even got to witness IU’s famous 3 high notes from ‘Good day’! The concert was planned such that it showed IU’s journey through the past decade (from debut till now); a series of trailers through various eras which complemented each performance set.
It was easy to see how much IU loves her fans because she was awed by how they sang along perfectly in Korean – ‘I got goosebumps! I know how difficult it is to sing in another language, I really know but you guys were perfect. Thank you for trying for my sake. Now it is my turn, and I heard that a lot of my 싱애나() asked for this song, so this is my gift to you guys.’ She then took the crowd by surprise by singing Karen Mok’s ‘爱’.
The surprise continued when IU took the chance to dedicate a song to Jonghyun, who passed away last year. Before the stage, IU explained that the song was never in the original setlist but it was (and still is!) a great source of comfort for her ever since she met the song, ending off with, ‘I hope this song will reach the person I really miss’. After which, she swapped her usual purple microphone for a pearl aqua microphone, and ‘Gloomy Clock’ came on.
The singer shared that when she was younger, she used to pay attention to the people who disliked her, resulting in songs with dark and sharp lyrics. However, she has noticed that she has shifted her focus to love instead, and that the fans are a great source of comfort for her, as well as the reason why she has started to learn to love herself. She also explained how she is starting to leave behind the adorable image over time and that this tour would be the last time that fans will witness ‘Marshmallow’ and ‘Boo’ on stage. However, IU’s cute antics with the marshmallow mascots were definitely worth it!
During the ending ment, IU shared that the Singapore stage/studio was a surprise to the team because of how luxurious everything was. She even added on that it was a dream for most singers, and she was so glad that she had the chance to experience it. Adding on to the good memories in Singapore, fans held up banners and fingerlights that mimicked fireflies when IU sang ‘Dear Name’ during the encore! They got IU’s seal of approval because she happily announced that the lights really looked like fireflies and it was a sight that she had never seen before. The singer even returned to the stage for an en-encore after changing out of stage attire to perform ‘Shower’ and ‘Heart’ before wrapping up the entire show!
No worries for those who couldn’t make it for her ‘dlwlrma’ show because the singer has promised that she will be back on our shores again next year! She revealed that she has plans to bring her family her for a vacation, and that many of her personal friends lived here too, so when she is here, all she has are good memories! Is she hinting at another event next year as well? We’ll all be anticipating even more good news from IU for 2019!
