Samsung Celebrates 10 Years of the Galaxy and the Launch of Galaxy S10 | S10+ with KPOP Sensation iKON

iKON performed 'Love Scenario' & 'Killing Me' at the "Unleash Next Gen Bold" Event

To celebrate 10 years of Galaxy and the launch of its latest product innovation, the Galaxy S10 and S10+ in Singapore, Samsung held the Unleash Next Gen Bold event at Resorts World Theatre yesterday evening (21 February 2019). The exclusive event saw the unveiling of the latest member of the Galaxy S series together with a performance by K-pop sensation iKON.

At the Unleash Next Gen Bold event, over 1,500 Samsung and iKON fans had a chance to experience the revolutionary features of the Galaxy S10 and S10+ at various product zones. They got to watch a live performance by iKON, where fans also had the opportunity to take group selfies together with iKON using the Galaxy S10’s Ultra Wide Lens.

iKON fans got to see a side of their idols they have never seen before, while a number of lucky fans took home special momentos and iKON merchandise. In addition, as part of a collaboration between Samsung, iKON and Fortnite, an exclusive Fortnite in-game iKONIC outfit and a Chan-woo scenario emote will also be exclusively available only for Galaxy S10 and S10+ customers.

As part of the Samsung Galaxy series’ 10th anniversary celebrations, Samsung will also be holding the Singapore leg of Galaxy Studio for consumers from 22 February 2019. Galaxy Studio will comprise of themed experiential zones and comprehensive product showcase areas, where consumers can enjoy and experience for themselves the all-round multimedia features of the latest Samsung Galaxy devices, through a slew of delightful and immersive activities.

#KPopTwitter Records 5.3 Billion Tweets Globally in 2018

2018 was a big year for KPOP, and with a new global record of 5.3 billion Tweets last year, Twitter continues to show that it's the best place to find out what's happening with KPOP and to talk about it with KPOP fans around the world!

Here are the top 20 countries (listed by region and in alphabetical order) that Tweeted the most about KPop in 2018:

North America: US, Canada
Latin America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru
Europe: France, Turkey, UK
Asia Pacific: India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam

Twitter also collaborated with 34 KPop bands and over 200 artistes to create KPop content available exclusively on the platform, such as with BTS, EXO and GOT7. Through a variety of engagements such as live Q&A sessions via the #TwitterBlueroom, fun emojis created for album comebacks, and even special voting on the platform, Twitter has strengthened its position as the top conversation platform for the global KPop community. In particular, #TwitterBlueroom broadcasts have been viewed over 10 million times in 2018.

These pieces of content also provided advertisers with an opportunity to reach out to the young and highly engaged KPop fans on a global scale. As such, Twitter extended its In-Stream Video Ads (IVA) capabilities to KPop content. In-Stream Videos Sponsorships (IVS) was also introduced, allowing brands to insert pre-roll ads into video highlights of KPop #TwitterBlueroom.

#2018MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) - 56 million Tweets in Just Three Days!

Over the course of three days leading up the #2018MAMA Awards from 12 to 15 December last year, KPop fans interacted with each other on Twitter and set a new record of 56 million award-related Tweets, surpassing the 42 million award-related Tweets in 2017!

The Twitter's exclusive 'Worldwide Icon of the Year' award got fans voting for their favourite bands and artists on the platform, accumulating up to 13.3 million Tweets in just three hours! Fans used the hashtag #MAMAVOTE, which trended worldwide, ranking #1 in 44 countries.

BTS is the Most Tweeted Account in the World

2018 was BTS' year, and it showed on Twitter. BTS was ranked as the #1 most Tweeted about account for 2018 worldwide. A Tweet featuring BTS member J-Hope participating in the #InMyFeelingsChallenge was the Most Liked Tweet worldwide last year with 1.8 million Likes.

The impact of BTS has also been recognised in corporate advertising. In order to promote their new smartphone, LG Electronics launched an official Twitter channel called LGxBTS, sharing video clips of BTS at award ceremonies such as the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, paired with In-Stream Video Ads. The pre-roll ads featured in the clips garnered 20 million views and 8.7 million engagements, making headlines on Twitter.

Breaking Records - EXO's #TwitterBlueroom Watched by 1.6 million People Live!

In November, KPop boy group EXO garnered huge attention by generating more than 24 million Tweets through the hashtag #EXO_Tempo, in anticipation for their comeback album, "Don't Mess Up My Tempo".

Twitter and EXO also collaborated for a surprise #TwitterBlueroom Live Q&A prior to their comeback. As many as 1.6 million EXO-L tuned in, making it the highest number of real-time views ever for a live KPop #TwitterBlueroom.

Twitter's 'Instant Unlock' for Exclusive GOT7 Video Content

Fans of KPop boy band GOT7 (@GOT7Official) were in for a treat when they announced that their fans were able to view a series of behind-the-scenes production videos on Twitter related to their third studio album, Present: YOU, exclusively available through an instant unlock feature when they Tweeted with the #Lullaby hashtag. There were 2.4 million related Tweets over the 10 day campaign in October 2018.

It was definitely not an ordinary Saturday for CARATs as SEVENTEEN made an exciting visit at Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur on 16^th February for The SAEM x SEVENTEEN fan-sign event!

The heartthrob boy group are known for their frequent visit in Malaysia ever since 2017, however this time, there were only 11 members managed to attend the event, few members including The8 and Jun did not make it due to unforeseen circumstances.

All seriousness aside, it did not stop the fans from coming to see SEVENTEEN! The venue was filled with over thousands of fans who have traveled all the way from different cities and countries, gathering together to show their love and support to the boys. Some said that the fans have waited since very early in the morning to catch the best spot to see them up-close!

However, the fan-sign event was delayed for about few hours ahead, but the fans were still full of anticipation and energy to meet the boys! The MC of the day, Serena was being a great sport for keeping up the momentum as she entertained the crowd by handing out free passes and gifts for the fans to fill up the time.

The temperature soon went up when MC Serena asked the fans to sing along to 'THANKS', not long after that - the boys’ arrival shook the venue, leaving the fans screaming their names and waving their fan light-sticks! All prepped in white tops and washed-out jeans, SEVENTEEN made their way to the stage and politely greeted the whole crowd.

After a short chat with the MC, Malaysian CARATs were lucky enough to celebrate DK and Vernon’s birthday! They were gifted with two huge cakes, other members and fans gleefully serenaded happy birthday to them! (Check out the video below!)

The huge amount of fans that have waited left the boys feeling overwhelmed; they were in awe as they saw the fans holding up banners and members’ names to show their dedication and love to them!

“Looking at the thousands of fans at the venue, it made us feel overwhelmed, we also want to thank you for supporting Seventeen, we love you all” said, Vernon.

S.Coups also highlighted that their schedule is pretty solid right now and they're preparing few activities for their fans, including their comeback! (CARATs, time to prepare yourselves!)

The event ended off to the fan-sign session, there were up to 150 lucky fans that were chosen to meet them up-close whilst getting their posters signed by them as well! (Are you one of them? We’re definitely envious of you!)

Don’t worry if you still missed them out, fingers-crossed that we will get to see them in Malaysia again soon! We really can’t wait to see what SEVENTEEN have prepared for us!
