Get ready, Singapore! Riot Games, the video game publisher behind ever popular online game League of Legends, has just turned the lens on players and fans with an unprecedented fan offering! Riot Games has announced Hyperplay, the first integrated ASEAN eSports and music festival is now a complimentary-ticketed event for all to attend at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Saturday, 4 August 2018 and Sunday, 5 August 2018.

Hyperplay is one of the three festivals happening as part of YOUTHx, a larger celebration of youth aspirations which aims to bring youths from all walks of life together. The diverse line-up of events, which include SHINE Festival and GetActive!SG, is initiated by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) and the National Youth Council (NYC).

Through two of today’s biggest cultural cornerstones of this generation – eSports and music, youths from all across Singapore and ASEAN can expect to come together for a weekend of hype and thrills, while embodying the youthful spirit of passion, dynamism and the freedom to dream big! On top of that, youths can get to immerse themselves in activities ranging from dance performances to fitness at SHINE Festival and GetActive!SG, the other two festivals under the YOUTHx umbrella.

“With Singapore as the ASEAN Chair this year, Singaporean youth are extremely happy and proud to host other ASEAN youth at the YOUTHX Festival weekend, all co-located at the Singapore Sports Hub. Access is complimentary for all, so that our Singaporean and ASEAN youth can participate together to celebrate their aspirations and strengthen the ASEAN identity,” said David Chua, Chief Executive of National Youth Council.

“In the lead-up to Hyperplay, we recognize this is a first of its kind event. We now want to make this an inclusive event to give players and fans from all walks of life a chance to catch all the esports action and music entertainment. More importantly, while complementing the other components of YOUTHx, we hope to encourage youths to bring along their friends with various interests to come experience and discover what Hyperplay has to offer for everyone,” shared Chris Tran, Regional Manager of Riot Games for Southeast Asia.

Players and fans can now get their free Hyperplay tickets when they visit APACTix.com to secure General Admission tickets. For fans who have already purchased tickets to Hyperplay; not only will they receive full refunds for their purchase, they will also be rewarded for their early support of ASEAN’s first eSports and music festival, with an upgrade to a seat in the CAT 1 section. All existing ticket holders will be notified about the new arrangements.

DAY 1 – SATURDAY, 4 AUGUST

Hyperplay will begin on 4 August with the first League of Legends Semi-finals followed by Singapore’s favourite The Sam Willows, the 1st act who will take the MTV Spotlight stage with their half-time set. This will be followed by the second Semi-finals and then by South Korea’s superstar vocalist and rapper CL, to round up Day 1 with a bang.

DAY 2 – SUNDAY, 5 AUGUST

Stay tuned for 5 August, as performances on the MTV Spotlight stage by Indonesian idol Afgan and Thailand’s leading rock band Slot Machine will continue the music high, to set the mood for the Finals and the eventual League of Legends ASEAN Champion. As a festival finale, celebrate with Nick Jonas and Alessia Cara at the first ever integrated eSports and music event in the region.

In celebration of ASEAN Singapore 2018 and part of YOUTHx, Hyperplay is powered by Riot Games and MTV, presented by the MCCY and the NYC, and supported by gold sponsor Clear Men and official Telco partner Singtel. Patrons will be able to catch full set live performances by all acts for the MTV Spotlight stage hosted by MTV VJ Hanli Hoefer.

K-POP Sensation, EXO wows Sold-Out Crowd in Malaysia!

EXO was the centre of attention at Malaysia yesterday (7 July) as more than 10,000 EXO-Ls flocked to Axiata Arena just to watch EXO Planet #4 – "The EℓyXiOn" in Kuala Lumpur. This marked EXO's third visit to Malaysia but for some, this might be your 1st concert or even your once in a lifetime opportunity to see your favourites. So, let's get into it.

The venue was filled with energetic vibes from the very beginning with EXO-Ls lining up since last midnight and fans club members were seen giving out free banners outside the stadium. The vibes spread to the stadium with fans singing along EXO's hits and waving the group's official lightstick before the concert starts. Everyone was there for the same reason - EXO.

Dressed in regal white suits, EXO made their grand entrance with "The Eve" followed by "Forever". Riding on the impressive entrance, the members continued with the chart-topper, "Ko Ko Bop" and "Growl".

After the hits, each member was given a chance to shine through their solo and duo performances. Starting from Xiumin and Baekhyun's dance battles, to D.O and Chanyeol's ballad performance (For Life), to individual performances featuring rapping, dancing and singing. Unlike previous setlist, this time around, EXO showcased their individual talents. (ps: which is your favourite solo or duo performance?)

During the short break, the members introduced themselves to the crowd with leader Suho commenting, "Long time no see Malaysia, did you miss us?", which without question, got a 'YES' reply from the crowd.

The stage changed into a classy-style bar with the members in a dapper grey suit performing "Call Me Baby", "Touch It", "Chill", "Sweet Lies", "Boomerang" and "Lotto". Fans went frenzy when the members came to the centre stage to perform. Thanks to the stage design, we were able to see the members up close. Chen even commented, "Can you see us clearly?" "How about people on the upper stairs?". The sub-unit group, EXO-CBX then took over the stage with "Ka-Ching!". The show continued with more solo stages with Suho's sexy rendition of "Playboy" followed by Chanyeol's self-written rap "Hands".

Clad in white, the members performed the more heartfelt tracks "Cloud9", "What U Do?", "Tender Love" and "Walk On Memories". Chen remained on stage after the group performances and showcased his sweet vocal, "Heaven", Sehun, however, showcased his powerful choreography, "GO".

Fans went wild chanting for EXO when the 8 members were back on stage with the black and red outfits. The stadium changed to a strong and more upbeat atmosphere when "Coming Over", "Run This", "Drop That" and "Power" were played.

Fans were seen screaming and dancing to the beats, turning the stadium to a nightclub. Screams of the 10,000-strong EXO-Ls left Suho commented, "Seems like all the fans coming here today is to shout-out-loud". (ps: be prepared to drink only the honey lemon for the following week)

Before bidding the farewell, Kai commented, "I am so happy to see the happy faces here today. I am so glad to be able to interact with the fans. You guys are the best!". Suho then made his final speech and said "We'll come back for the next concert. We love Malaysia." After spending hours drenched in sweat singing and dancing, the members made a wonderful close with fans' favourite, "Don't Go" and "Angel".

Yesterday was indeed a great night to remember. We would like to give a 10 out of 10 for the overall experience as the stage design, props, lighting and arrangement were just on point. Of course, a 10 for EXO as well, who mesmerised the sold-out crowd with their versatile vocals and powerful choreography. The charm found in these boys combined with their talents exactly why they are known as the K-POP sensation.

RANIA successfully wrapped up their final show for ‘RANIA & You’ Party Tour at KL Gateway Mall on 1st July 2018! They kick-started the party tour in Penang, followed by KL leg from 29^th Jun – 1^st July 2018 . Fans not only get the opportunity to watch their live performances for free, but also have the chance to interactive with the members through games, photo and fan-sign sessions.

A1st (Rania's fans) were more than thrilled to see Rania returning as 5 for the Party Tour. The changes within the group, did not stop the girls from making more good music and meeting fans abroad.

The fan meeting started off with RANIA performing with their debut song ‘Dr. Feel Good’. Prepped only in colourful sweatshirts and jeans, the members stole the show with their charismatic dance moves and live vocals! Fans were singing in unison and even tried to dance along as well! (not to mention the members were dancing in killer high heels!)

Despite RANIA’s full schedule, the girls were still energetic and interactive with their fans! The members greeted cutely with “Apa Khabar !” (How are you) and even introduced their names in Malay language. We can see that the fans were swooned by their charms! (it affected us too!)

After a short break, the members continued performing other songs such as ‘Starting A Fire’, ‘Breathe Heavy’ and ‘Make Me Ah’. The fan meeting got even more exciting as 5 lucky fans were chosen to play a game called ‘Copy Me’ with the members. Although the time was short, the members still put a lot of effort to make their fans happy and also to the fans who were watching!

The fans meeting ended with the photo and fan sign session.

Zi.U mentioned that they were extremely overwhelmed by the warm welcome from Malaysian fans, hoping that they will come back to Malaysia again really soon! Not only that, they also added that they are going to release a new album hopefully by this year!

Grammy Award Winner Alessia Cara Completes the Stella Performers' Line-Up for MTV Spotlight at Hyperplay

Hyperplay, the first integrated ASEAN esports and music festival, just got another massive dose of star power! Alessia Cara, the ‘Best New Artist’ at the Grammy Awards 2018, has been unveiled as the sixth and final act to rock the MTV Spotlight @ Hyperplay stage on Sunday, 5 August 2018 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Performing in Singapore for the first time, Cara will join five other acts who will display their musical prowess during the Hyperplay weekend. This includes superstar vocalist CL and four-member pop band The Sam Willows on 4 August, as well as leading rock band Slot Machine, pop idol Afgan and multiplatinum superstar Nick Jonas on 5 August.

Combining the two pop culture pillars of esports and music, Hyperplay will deliver a new entertainment experience for the audience. Starting on 4 August, the first League of Legends Semi-finals will kick off the festival before The Sam Willows take the stage for their half-time set. This will be followed by the second Semi-finals and CL will close Day 1 with a bang. Performances by Afgan and Slot Machine will continue the music high on 5 August, and set the mood for the Finals and the eventual League of Legends winner. As a festival finale, celebrate with Nick Jonas and Alessia Cara to conclude the first ever integrated esports and music event in the region.

Under the guidance of their coach Leonard “OMO” Loh, Singapore’s representative Team Sovereign have built themselves to be one of Singapore’s strongest esports and League of Legends (LoL) teams, having won the last three major local LoL tournaments back-to-back.

As we gear up to the first ever LoL ASEAN tournament on the Hyperplay main stage, be sure to cheer them on as they battle it out against nine other ASEAN teams for the title of ASEAN Champion, and make a name for themselves in the Asian esports scene.
