tvN Asia’s travel and food original production One Night Food Trip – International Edition season 2 commences shooting. A spin-off of the popular CJ E&M format of the same name, One Night Food Trip – International Edition adds local Asian celebrities to create relevance to its target audience. This season, the 16-episode travel show brings audience to the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Korea. tvN Asia’s original production One Night Food Trip – International Edition 2 Philippine segment will premiere exclusively on tvN in Asia on 30 July (Monday) at 18:30 (GMT+8).

Earlier production team wrapped up shooting at the second destination, foodieland Taiwan. Korean model and global influencer Irene Kim, who pairs up with Taiwan local celebrity Gabriel Lan going from Hualien to Taitung. They are able to experience some of the most authentic Taiwanese breakfast foods, including egg pancakes, Taiwanese macarons Xiao Xi Dian; and go on a cultural escapade visiting a resort/restaurant where you can eat and live like a true Taiwanese. As the team concludes their trip, they hop on a hot air balloon to oversee the colourful skyline of Taitung.

Opposing to Irene and Gabriel are internationally renowned K-pop singer, Se7en and Taiwan actress and model, Christina Mok. The team starts off with a famous city in the South, Kaohsiung and go all the way to Tainan, where they face some interesting missions, such as eating shaved ice that serves 6 people, drinking beef soup in a lively morning, as well as visiting a traditional Taiwanese market that has everything!

The third stop of the show will go to the diverse Malaysia where competitors in last season, Jung Joon-young and Jo Se-ho face off each other once again. Shooting will commence in mid-July. Want to find out who bring home the Golden Passport? Stay tuned to find out!

For this collaboration, JAMES explained that he is a fan and a friend of SOOYOUNG. He’s been wanting to work with her as she has a beautiful voice tone. “She has a purity and loveliness I thought would work well with my voice and the energy of this track. I sent her the acoustic track and she agreed right away to give it a try and we tracked her vocals very quickly. I found a talented acoustic guitarist on Instagram named Pat Falgate who played the guitar part beautifully. SOOYOUNG showed her professionalism when recording the vocals and the video.”

JAMES was a Bassist for the Korean-American rock band by the name of Royal Pirates debuted into the world of K-pop. Sadly a devastating freak accident in 2015, changed everything for JAMES forcing him to go on hiatus. A debilitating accident resulted in his left hand being almost chopped off and reattached with minimal function, ending his career as a worldwide touring bassist. After 5 surgeries, JAMES moved back to LA and started a kick-starter project called ‘The LIGHT EP’ including music written post-accident detailing his journey since then. He considers music his rehabilitation and continues writing and creating as his passion.

JAMES previously released his first solo single entitled “The Light” where he wrote the track after his tragic accident. It’s an electronic mid-tempo song describing his journey from the darkness of depression to accepting God as his savior. It is an emotional cry for help and conversation with hope through the darkest time in his life.

Hyperplay, the first ever integrated ASEAN esports and music festival happening at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, brought together avid fans on its first day, living up to the expectations of the festival’s hype and thrills. In celebration of our youths, fans got to immerse themselves in a range of esports action and music performances – the two key cultural cornerstones of the generation.

Hyperplay kicked off with the first ASEAN League of Legends semi-finals with Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur Hunters taking on Philippines’ Acclaim Empire X. After three intense rounds of powerplay, the Malaysians came out on top with a 2 – 1 victory over their ASEAN counterparts, sealing a spot in tomorrow’s grand finals.

Kicking off the 1st MTV Spotlight, The Sam Willows took the crowd through an adventurous journey with a nine-track set. The quartet wasted no time in getting the party started by opening up the show with a good collection of their past and present upbeat hits – All Time High (led by Benjamin), Baby Don’t Shy, Keep Me Jealous and Thirsty.

Once they established their presence, the quartet brought the tempo down with their more emotionally raw numbers Save Myself and Robot from their latest sophomore album, tugging on the heartstrings of everyone in attendance. From there, the audience was treated to a guitar solo introduction by Jon that led into their dance-worthy number Papa Money that is currently taking over the airwaves.

The foursome closed out the set with their hits For Love and Take Heart, from their previous debut album, right before an injured Narelle was piggy-backed onto Sandra for their exit.

Turning the focus back to esports, Singapore’s Sovereign put up a commendable effort against favourites, Vietnam’s Super Star Destroyers. However, it still wasn’t quite enough to match up to the sheer might of Team Vietnam as they quickly clinched victory in the first game, which took just 25 minutes. Led by Artemis – the main carry of the team – the Vietnamese set the pace of the game with a couple of fallback strategies that Sovereign failed to keep up with.

Right after the 2nd semi-finals match, CL showcased why she’s indeed Asia's Baddest Female as she returned to Singapore on the MTV Spotlight stage. She immediately ushered in her unique brand of intensity with her opening catchy, hip hop track, The Baddest Female, getting fans up on their feet upon get go. Her 13-track set only intensified with immense energy levels with each song performance.

Taking a moment to greet her ‘GZBs’ fans in Singapore, she performed Ain’t No Better Feeling for the first time since going solo as a gift to her fans. CL’s high-octane energy was undoubtable as she performed dance hit after hit while a hyped up crowd happily sang and danced along to – Dirty Vibe, Lifted, Come Back Home, Gotta Be You, Falling In Love, Dr Pepper, MTBD, ₩1,000,000 and Can’t Nobody.

CL was on fire with her performance of Hello Bitches, which was aptly accompanied by a pyrotechnic display and fireballs going off on stage. Epitomising true female prowess, she ended her set with I Am the Best, while her fans continued to roar in wild frenzy.
