Sunday, June 21, 2026

Dayoung of WJSN marked a major milestone in her solo journey, taking home two awards at the 35th Seoul Music Awards held on June 20 at Inspire Arena in Incheon.

She earned both a main award and the Best Solo Award, further proving her growing presence as a solo artist following her debut last year and her second digital single What's a girl to do released in April.

Through her agency Starship Entertainment, Dayoung shared that performing as a solo artist at a major awards show still feels emotional and meaningful. She said receiving both awards was an honor and thanked her fans, adding that her biggest motivation comes from those who listen to her music and support her performances.

The night also featured a standout stage performance. Dayoung performed an upgraded version of What's a girl to do with table choreography, strong live vocals, and Y2K-inspired styling. She also performed her debut track body, energizing the audience with a powerful dance break and stage presence.

Since her solo debut with gonna love me, right? in September last year, Dayoung has continued to build momentum. Her track body achieved strong chart performance and went viral through global challenges on TikTok and YouTube.

Her solo work has also gained international attention, with coverage from outlets including Forbes, NME, FOX 13 Seattle, MTV channels, The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, and more, where she was named among the best K-pop acts of the year.

Dayoung continues her active schedule across festivals and global stages, with an upcoming appearance at Waterbomb Seoul 2026 on July 26.
