In celebration of Singapore’s National Day on 9 August, tvN has curated a 7-day exclusive line-up, giving audience the best Korean entertainment experience! Viewers can enjoy the latest drama, express variety shows, including the much-loved Na PD shows, as well as global K-pop music shows all in one place. Tune in to Singtel Ch. 518 / 619 and StarHub Ch. 824, during their free preview period (Singtel: 6-12 Aug; StarHub: 8-14 Aug), to get a taste of what tvN offers!

The special line-up opens with a BANG – running a marathon of the latest women-empowering Korean drama, Search: WWW, starring a stellar female main cast Im Soo-jung, Lee Da-hee and Jeon Hae-jin, alongside model-turn-actor Jang Gi-yong. The drama follows the career and love lives of three ambitious women who work at Korea’s leading search engine companies. The tear-jerking finale leaves audience with a smile and satisfaction.

For the weekends, tvN has prepared side-splitting line-up, extending its Na’ight (Na PD’s night) to the afternoon. Watch a mini marathon of fans’ favourite Kang’s Kitchen 3, which sees the return of beloved member Kyu-hyun from Super Junior, who took a hiatus from the show as he served his military service. With his return, the gang also switch from running a noodle/snack restaurant to a pizza house! 

Na PD’s fans are no stranger to his another long-running series, 3 Meals A Day, this time, he engages with an all-female cast in the Mountain Village series. Watch the 24-hour express premiere of episode one, which follows main female cast of Sky Castle Yum Jung-ah and Yoon Se-ah, as well as 2019 Cannes Film Festival Palme D’or winner Parasite’s Park So-dam, head off to a quiet home in the mountains of Gangwon province, and go back to basics as they harvest vegetables and look for food in the nature. K-pop fans delight 11 August (Sunday), as tvN is giving everyone the 2019 KCON in New York experience from 15:00, tune in to the performances by NU’EST, SEVENTEEN, IZ*ONE, AB6IX, (G)I-DLE and many more! WkndFest has created a buzz of excitement on social media last few months with announcement of iKON, Mamamoo, Momoland and (G)I-dle joining the festival. But months later, the organiser announced additional line-up and a new date of the festival.

Happening in Axiata Arena on 30 August, Wkndfest Vol.1 K-POP Edition is set to bring a total of 6 K-POP acts including Tiffany Young, iKON, Mamamoo, Momoland, VAV and (G)I-dle to Malaysia. Tickets are now available to purchase on Myticket.Asia.

VAV recently released a rhythmic dance track "Give Me More" which features American singer-song writer De La Ghetto and Grammy-winning production duo Play-N-Skillz. In conjunction with the latest single, A Team Entertainment (VAV's agency) announced a dance cover contest for VAV's 'Give Me More'. From 24 July to 11 August, fans can enter the dance cover contest and stand a chance to win a ticket to the renowned 1Million Dance Studio Class worth 5,000,000 KRW (est. RM17,415.92).

GFriend graced Singapore on 20 July 2019 for their 2019 GFriend Asia Tour – Go Go Gfriend. Performing a jam-packed 2.5 hour show at The Star Theatre, it made Singapore Buddies’ 3- year wait all worth it.

In sweet, pastel-colored outfits, the ladies were off to a bright start with Me Gustas Tu, Life Is A Party and Vacation. They then greeted Buddies with their first ment, saying that they’re surprised to see this many people.

The former unit performed Monday Blues; while the latter performed Shy Boy, also revealing that these two songs were supposed to be part of their debut tracks. While most Buddies are used to seeing GFriend performing in full force, this segment definitely serves as a refreshing moment for the fans as they got to know more about the girls.

While we thought the funny segment was over, GFriend continued to delight Buddies with yet another laughter-inducing VCR – a creative concept of “Infinity War”! Just like how the title sounds, each member was good at one skill, and had to battle one another. After sending everyone into laughter, the girls came back onstage in classy black outfits and performed tracks like Only 1, L.U.V, Flower Garden, and even a ballad version of Rough.

Being a good leader, Sowon even went backstage to make a special request to perform their latest comeback – Fever, as it wasn’t included in their original setlist. The group ended up doing an impromptu performance without its background music, blowing everyone’s minds away. They then lit the stage once again with one of their biggest hits, Navillera.

Of course, the girls aren’t leaving without an encore. The atmosphere became emotional as the VCR, put together by Singapore Buddies, left GFriend and some fans in tears. Concluding the beautiful moment, the idol group and fans even sang together, before ending the concert with Compass.

Filled with several highlights and powerful performances, Go Go GFriend left a beautiful memory for Singapore Buddies’. We definitely look forward to the girls visiting our shores again!
