They say that nothing in life comes for free, but when struggling Lee Seungcheon is offered a new life full of wealth and riches in exchange for the purchase of a golden spoon that is affordable, he will soon learn that there’s more to that expression than meets the eye. Referred to as “dirt spoon” by those who know him best, Seungcheon and several others will soon have their lives completely transformed in unexpected and irreversible ways in The Golden Spoon, the latest Korean series to be announced as part of the ever-growing catalogue of local APAC content available on Disney+ Hotstar. 

Starring Yook Sungjae (Mystic Pop-up Bar, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God) as Lee Seungcheon, a boy born into dire straits who is offered a new his life with the purchase of a golden spoon; Lee Jongwon (Hospital Playlist 2, The Spies Who Loved Me) as Hwang Taeyong, the son of a wealthy head of a conglomerate; Jung Chaeyeon (The King’s Affection, My First First Love) as Na Juhee, a woman from a rich family who dreams of a normal life; and Yeonwoo (Dali and Cocky Prince, Cheat On Me If You Can) as Oh Yeojin, a girl with unparalleled ambitions; The Golden Spoon is written by Yoon Eunkyung (The Prime Minister and I) and Kim Eunhee (The Prime Minister and I, Night After Night) and is directed by Robin Song (Another Miss Oh, Beauty Inside, The King’s Affection) and Lee Han Jun.

Fans of world-class Korean storytelling can also look forward to the September 8 premiere of THE ZONE: Survival Mission, a laugh-out-loud Korean variety show starring Yu Jaeseok, Lee Kwangsoo and Kwon Yuri in a range of unexpected situations. This fall, watch David take on a steady stream of Goliaths in One Dollar Lawyer, a moving courtroom comedy about a pro bono lawyer who helps those in need for just a dollar a case, coming September 23rd on Disney+ Hotstar. 

Cheon Jihun is a lawyer who is committed to doing the right thing. Sporting a stylish perm and an unorthodox methodology, he has made a name for himself as one of the most talented lawyers around, routinely beating expensive firms and their lawbreaking clients for just one dollar per case. An inspiration to many, Jihun will cause Baek Mari, a confident assistant attorney born into “legal royalty” to question everything she believes after being forced to work with Jihun for two months. 

Starring Namkoong Min (Stove League, The Veil) as Cheon Jihun, a star lawyer with a high win rate who charges his clients one dollar per case; Kim Jieun (The Veil, Strangers From Hell) as Baek Muri, a lawyer born into a family of “legal royalty”; One Dollar Lawyer is written by Choi Soojin and Choi Changhwan (Heart Surgeons, Innocent Defendant), directed by Kim Jaehyun and Shin Joonghoon, and is produced by Studio S.

Han So-hee, who rose to stardom from the Netflix Series My Name, The World of the Married and Nevertheless, plays Yun Chae-ok — a famous bounty hunter who can track down missing people, even ones who are dead. Chae-ok possesses a sharp eye and agile survival skills learned from her rough childhood roaming across Manchuria and Shanghai with her father. The solid cast also includes Claudia Kim and Wi Ha-joon who have both received international spotlight for their work. Claudia Kim plays Maeda, who is the wife of a powerful official in Gyeongseong during the colonial period. The actress has been active on the global stage through the films Avengers: Age of Ultron and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, as well as the Netflix Series Marco Polo. 

Wi Ha-joon, who made a lasting impression on worldwide audiences with his role in Squid Game and is currently winning over viewers in Little Women, plays Gwon Jun-taek, Tae-sang's best friend. He joins Tae-sang's dangerous plan in rescuing the people who have gone missing.

Gyeongseong is the former name of Korea’s capital city Seoul, and the name used during Japanese colonial rule. The upcoming series invites audiences to 1945 Gyeongseong, the hotbed of turmoil caused by creatures that suddenly appear and wreak havoc on an already troubled world.
