tvN Asia’s latest original production, My Dream Trip, welcomes Korean boy group BTOB members Peniel Shin and Im Hyunsik to Hong Kong, where exciting adventures await. Along with the producers of My Dream Trip, the duo shortlisted two lucky fans from an online recruitment in April, co-hosted by tvN Asia and the show’s media partner, Viu, to join them in Asia’s world city, embarking on an unforgettable mission-packed journey together.

The production crew concluded shooting for My Dream Trip in early May. The K-pop duo and their travel buddies were introduced to some of the latest hotspots in Hong Kong, where they explored the art, history and culture of the city; dined at some of the hippest restaurants in town; and walked through Hong Kong’s back garden in the New Territories.

To make the trip more challenging, the four were given only minimal funds at the beginning of the trip. They had to earn money for transportation, meals and even eating utensils by completing missions. Watch the show to find out whether they had to travel around on foot and eat with their bare hands.

In My Dream Trip, Peniel, Hyunsik and their travel buddies discovered a beautiful, youthful and energetic Hong Kong. They meandered through the west part of the Hong Kong Island, which has now been turned into an arty district – ARTLANE – where they admired colourful murals and street art, which are popular with both locals and tourists as sources of inspiration. They also put on the traditional costumes at Hong Kong’s newly opened Xiqu Centre in the West Kowloon Cultural District, a hub designed for the promotion of traditional Chinese theatre and the UNESCO-listed Cantonese opera.

Among the other fascinating locations they visited was Tai Kwun, which is a heritage site comprising the former Central Police Station, Central Magistracy and Victoria Prison, and has been conserved, revitalized and transformed into the Centre for Heritage and Arts. For tourists with a tight itinerary, like the My Dream Trip crew, Tai Kwun is the perfect stop, where they can enjoy Hong Kong’s heritage, contemporary art and leisure elements all in one stop.

Striving to provide audience with latest contents promptly, tvN Asia proudly announces its very first 18-hour express variety show – PRODUCE X 101 – enabling K-pop lovers in Asia to keep up with this highly-anticipated survival audition show. PRODUCE X 101 will premiere on tvN in Asia from 4 May (Every Saturday) at 17:00 (GMT+8).

The global idol survival audition programme PRODUCE X 101 features 101 male trainees born before 2005, in which they will compete in multiple rounds of elimination and be handpicked by the audience (a.k.a. national producers) through both online and live voting, to form the ultimate boy group. Majority of the contestants come from renowned K-entertainment companies, while there are also some talented individual trainees. All contestants have started their dorm life in March and are undergoing intensive trainings involving singing, dancing, stage performance and team work.

Apart from the strong trainer line-up, including rapper Cheetah, singers Lee Suk-hoon and Shin Yoo-mi, as well as dancers Choi Young-jun and Kwon Jae-seung from previous seasons, this year, one of the most sought-after actors and heartthrob Lee Dong-wook will take up the MC role to represent all the “national producers”. Making it even harder to survive, the original ranking system with Grade A through F welcomes an extra Grade, X, depicting the lowest bunch in the spectrum.

Additionally, opinions from the national producers will weigh more significantly, PRODUCE X 101, for the first time ever, gives the voting right for title track’s centre position to the viewers. In the latest episode, adorable scenes of the hard-working lawyer Kwon Jung-rok (Lee Dong-wook) and A-list actress Oh Yoon-seo (Yoo In-na) were released, and the couple’s relationship has become much more affectionate after their time apart. The serious professional, Jung-rok turns out to be a green-eyed monster filled with jealousy from the frequent interactions between Yoon-seo and other men. When role-playing drama scenes with Yoon-seo, Jang-rok transforms into a macho man and aggressively hauls her down on the sofa, surprising Yoon-seo and made her blush. “Hold my hand tight and I’ll stand by your side till the end” he promises her, showing off his extraordinary masculinity. In addition, the couple’s original plan to keep their relationship private failed due to their uncontrollable jealousy.

Indeed, Jung-rok tends to suppress his desire for love in the first half of the drama. However, he gradually becomes a thrall to love as he helplessly wallows in the relationship with Yoon-seo. As the premiere approaches, production crew releases some snap shots featuring Yoo In-na and Lee Dong- wook’s characters. In one of the photos, A-list actress Oh Yoon-seo (starring Yoo In-na) wore a pair of oversized sunglasses and a scarf trying to disguise herself as an ordinary person. Though Yoon-seo believes she could trick everyone, this seemingly dramatic office fashion simply exposed her starlight identity. Touch Your Heart follows the story between perfectionist lawyer Kwon Jung-rok (Lee Dong-wook) and A-list actress Oh Yoon-seo (Yoo In-na), who is embroiled in a scandal that heavily affected her career. tvN Asia elevated the experience of its original production Wok The World with a spin-off culinary journey, which concluded with a spectacular Gala Dinner at S.E.A. Aquarium, Resorts World Sentosa Singapore on 4 January 2019; followed by a Cooking Competition on 5 January 2019 at Adventure Cove Waterpark, Resorts World Sentosa.

Wok The World Gala Dinner was held at S.E.A. Aquarium’s iconic Open Ocean Habitat, home to more than 40,000 marine animals such as majestic manta rays and zebra sharks, and welcomed over 200 guests in attendance. The exclusive four-hands menu co-created by Michelin 3-star Demon Chef Alvin Leung and Executive Chef Li Kwok Kwong of Feng Shui Inn, Resorts World Sentosa, allowed guests to taste some of the iconic dishes that Alvin re-created in Wok The World, giving them a truly immersive show experience.

The star-studded Gala Dinner saw special guest appearances by Hong Kong celebrity Andy Hui and guest host Alexander Lee, a.k.a. Xander, of Wok The World. When chatting with the emcee, Belinda Lee, and the Demon Chef, Andy Hui remarked that he would like to see Alvin re-construct pig’s tongue, which symbolises prosperity and luck, into something unexpected. Xander and Eric Chong, protégé of Alvin also shared the stage to re-visit some of the funniest moments when shooting Wok The World, and how they had great chemistry with Alvin despite the age gap. The dinner concluded with a lucky draw, where winners brought home a beautiful WMF cutlery set, a luxurious Maurice Lacroix watch, and Resorts World Sentosa dining vouchers, sponsored by WMF Singapore, Maurice Lacroix and Resorts World Sentosa respectively. 

Apart from the Gala Dinner, the Wok The World Cooking Competition at Adventure Cove Waterpark was a perfect finale to this immersive journey. Five home cooks from Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines competed against each other for the grand prize, a luxurious watch worth SGD2,700 from Maurice Lacroix. Contestants also took home cooking utensils and cutlery sponsored by WMF Singapore as well as admission tickets to Universal Studios Singapore, S.E.A. Aquarium, Adventure Cove Waterpark, The Maritime Experiential Museum and Typhoon Theatre, sponsored by Resorts World Sentosa. All contestants were required to make use of the limited edition sesame oil as well as dark and light soy sauce especially made for Wok The World, produced by Chee Seng Oil and Kwong Cheong Thye, respectively. 

The competition saw renowned chefs, Alvin Leung, Eric Chong and Li Kwok Kwong, along with Xander as the panel of judges, as they graded the contestants’ dishes according to the taste and presentation, as well as on the creativity and inspirations behind the home cooks’ inventions. Guests in Adventure Cove Waterpark were also welcome to vote for the contestants and win attractive prizes.

After an intense hour-long competition, Marie, a regional contestant from the Philippines emerged as the winner. Chef Alvin remarked that Marie's dish (Pork Adobo with Chicken Liver) was well-balanced, using ingredients like chicken liver and tomato. Xander was similarly wowed by Marie’s interpretation of the Adobo, where she used creative ingredients like the salted egg to create a winning concoction. Marie was overjoyed by her win and felt honored to be recognised by renowned chefs that she looked up to. She also hopes that more people will be interested in Filipino cuisine and try different versions and variations of the Adobo.

The 6-episode series, Wok The World, is in partnership with Viu and the third original production by CJ E&M HK this year. The show sees Michelin 3-star chef, a.k.a. Demon Chef, Alvin Leung along with his protégé, MasterChef Canada Season 1 winner, Eric Chong and K-pop heartthrobs, Nichkhun of 2PM, JinJin of Astro and Alexander Lee, a.k.a.
