Cannes Best Actress winner Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Kim Si-A, Esom, and Koo Kyo-hwan recently appeared at 'Kill Boksson' press conference, giving fans a glimpse into what they can expect from this action-packed crossover genre film. The film follows the story of Gil Boksoon, played by Jeon Do-yeon, a mother and a paid assassin who has to juggle her personal and professional life.
During the press conference, director Byun Sung-hyun shared his vision for the film, which he described as a crossover genre movie with character-focused drama and elegant fight scenes, interlaced with feisty dark humor. He emphasized that the film is not just an action-packed thriller, but a story of growth and development for the characters, including Gil Boksoon, her daughter Gil Jae-young, and Cha Min-kyu, the Chairman of MK Ent.
The director also revealed that he was inspired to write the scenario for "Kill Boksoon" because of Jeon Do-yeon's talents as an actress, and that he wanted to create an action movie that would showcase a different side of her skills. He added that all of the actors went through extensive action training to perfect their roles, which resulted in some impressive fight scenes.
The cast members also shared their experiences of working on the film, including the challenges and joys of portraying their respective characters. Jeon Do-yeon shared that she was initially scared of the action scenes, but eventually convinced herself to push through and do her best. Sul Kyung-gu, who has worked with the director before, praised his style and approach to filmmaking, while Koo Kyo-hwan expressed his admiration for the choreography of the action scenes.
One interesting aspect of the film is its portrayal of assassination as a legal profession, which adds a unique twist to the traditional action movie genre. The director explained that he wanted to make the setting more universal by adding almost comical moods, and by using industry-related terms such as "show" and "scripts" to describe hits and murder plans.
Launching exclusively on Netflix on March 31, "Kill Boksoon" promises to be a rollercoaster ride of character-focused drama, elegant fight scenes, and feisty dark humor. Don't miss out on this incredible ensemble cast - make sure to catch "Kill Boksoon" on Netflix starting March 31.
